Hello, i was wondering if you can reset original Epson 378 cartridges with a cheap resetter from aliexpress or if it only works on one-time-chips OEM empty cartridges that you usually find alongside thems.
i'm aware cartridges shouldn't be empty and, fortunatly, only the Yellow is. I'll also try to refill the cartriges likes PGI-72s, by pooring ink in the absorber. I'll have a try with the Yellow cartridges and some distilled water and report back.
The plan is to use Epson 107 bottles as refiller and use epson original cartridges because the sponge on OEM cartridges doesn't make me feel very safe.
Also if any one of you knows where to get cartridges caps... !

the Epson 378 cartridge are Claria HD and the Epson 106 bottles are a good replacement like @Ink stained Fingers fade tests show

Using the 106 bottles you have all the main colors and can mix the main colors to get the light versions, i suspect that someone can help you dosing the colors.

but before you proceed, you have to have an european printer model, to use resetters and to refill the original cartridges, if you are in USA you can't refill the original cartridges and can't use resetters from that i know

Good to know. I have a european printer which is fitted with almost empty original epson cartridges. i'll probably buy this kit anyway so i have a spare set of cartridges for 10 euros and if something goes wrong with the epson cartridges i won't have to wait too much to get a set.

Aren't 107 bottles Claria HD too ? Agreed that it is more expensive but it is also more convenient.

Thank you very much for your reply.

If you have an EU version XP-15000 then the resetter will reset both original as well as aftermarket on-time reset and auto reset chips as well. I have experience with this in the past with my XP-15000 that I sold. The US-version will cause your resetter to say NOOO.

Really ? I had no luck resetting ARC chips on the 24XL i used for the XP-960 i had. If it's different for the 378 that's great ! I have aeuropean XP-8700. Still looking for a XP-15000 but they're rather rare on the second hand market.

Anyway that's more a matter on not trusting the sponges of refillable cartridges. On the 24 the design was already questionable but the contact aera between the sponge and the printhead was rather small. On the 378 the sponge is HUGE and i see no reason why it wouldn't spill all around given enough time. I already had to dismantle the xp-960 because of this. On the original epson 378 the sponge feel much more trusth worthy.

Thanks for your replys !

yes... i'm currently trusting a 13€ kit of 6 cartridge found on amazon and i'm afraid they leaks at some point. So far so good but you never know. I have 5 out of 6 guenine epson cartridges but i don't have the caps. and i like having 2 set of cartridges so i can swap a whole kit at once

You can use a resetter for Epson 378 cartridges to make the printer recognize them as full again. Success depends on cartridge type, printer region, and resetter compatibility. Results aren’t always guaranteed.

the problem can be the printer region, because with US printers for sure it doesn't work, when you reset the original cartridges they will lose the Epson "originality" so the printer will recognize them like compatible and with US firmwares you can't use them, but with european firmwares you can.

I have a resetter that used to work with the waste tank on the 3880, but has ceased now. Replaced its battery, but I still cannot get a green LED out of it when trying to reset a maintenance tank. I got maybe 8 MT tanks lying around that have been reset maybe four to six times each, but it could be they can only be reset so many times?

Fwiw, I just stuff a wad of paper towels in them to collect the ink - when I was able to reset them. A quarter inch wide wood chisel is great for prying them open.
