I'm using a IP8600 it's a Japaneses version of a IP8500 with CD printing.

basically I use it for a lot of CD printing with the some prints
CD prints seem to be very ink heavy and I'm using a lot of carts/refills

I was using refills but I saw a 3 X 8 colour set for 19usd on ebay and bought it but i discovered it was a BCi-6 kit always thought that it was a 6 colours only

Ive noticed in a few of the German site they have the BCi-6 listed for the IP8600 also the printhead for the IP8600 is the same as the IP8500

The IP8600 uses BCI-7 and doesn't use a chip So is it possible to use the BCi-6 in there ?

Thanks

Joe

My impression about BCI-7 is that the ink in them are different from that of the BCI-6. Other than that BCI-6 and BCI-7 cartridges have identical dimension. The ink in BCI-7 was advertised by Canon as more advanced. You can interchange BCI-6 with BCI-7. Anyone wants to comment on this?

My theory is that the BCI-7 is in fact the same ink like the CLI-8 and just a temporary solution to the "advanced" chipped CLI-8 cartridge. The IP8600 should be similar to the IP8500/i9900/i9950: they all use 8 cartridges/colours.
