Does anyone have any solutions to resolve this issue?

This is my how-to-do-list:
1. Nozzle Check
2. Remove printhead, clean printheadsurface and flush channels
3. Remove and clean inkcartridge gaskets
4. Reverse procedure 3 to 1

The fuzzy BK or double contour PGBK are damages caused by an unsuitable ink. These types of damage cannot be cleaned away. You will need a new printhead (or a new printer).

Unsuiteable ink.... 🤔

This is my Canon MG5550 almost printing more than - one hundred - 100 - pages with Canon OEM Original Ink...still running on Canon fabric ink...

Pictures:
1. Nozzle Check
2. Canon scan of test-photo printed with MG5550

The nozzle check shows both double vertical lines in PGBK, beginning fuzziness in BK (a faint lighter horizontal stripe in the middle of the band and a lighter stripe in regular cyan. The test image shows a strong magenta cast and graininess most visible in the greyscale at the bottom of the image. A little magenta cast is typical of many Canon printers with OEM cartridges, but this is too much. Maybe the graininess is caused by scanner artifacts. What scanner and what settings did you use? Has the printer really only done less than 150 prints and with OEM cartridges?

Is it actually possible to get less than 150 prints without using Canon OEM ink ???

I think the number of printed pages can be trusted, but if the printer is second hand then maybe the printhead is much older from another printer. Do you know how to make a test print and EEPROM info print from service mode?

I don't understand the question in post #9. Using aftermarket cartridges I could print any number of prints from none and until the printer breaks down.

Simmer down on the snark. PeterBJ is one of the nicest and helpful persons you will meet.

If you were as knowledgeable as you think you are then you would know how this page count could be manipulated and why it was a valid topic to ask about.

You go to the store and buy a new printer.....go home....unpack and install Canon OEM carts from the same box as the printer and connect it to your computer......then you print 5-6 pages to see how it works. Next week you print 10-15 photos taken at a party and then you leave it for 8-10 months before making some Christmas cards...the year after....and then you move to a new apartment......and 2 years later you print 20-30photos from your summer vacation........which resulted in pregnancy and the printer was put away in a closet for the next 4 years......

Who is stupid enough to buy aftermarket cartridges to a printer which is not being used for several years and still indicate ink level is as much as 50% remaining? when you get Canon OEM initially?

What is it that I am not understanding about the "short" lifetime of a Canon printhead?
