Hello, I started to notice horizontal lines appearing on my printed images. I have used all the Cleaning options as shown in the image below. I have deep cleaned the blacks several times. I have also manually aligned the print heads without resolving the issue. Please note the test print page. The 551 black is the bottom grey block under the yellow. It should be solid and not have any lines as in the colours above it. There are no issues with text.

Does anyone have any solutions to resolve this issue?

regards

Ray

Damage to the PGBK and/or BK nozzles is a typical error in the QY6-0082 printhead used in your and other printers. It is often seen after using an unsuitable aftermarket ink. The only solution to the problem is a new printhead. See this thread about a similar damage.

Are you using OEM carts and inks..?
Hi, I was but started using Colour Direct inks which I now see are made in China.
However, since my last post I have bought a new print head . Not original Cannon one so took a risk. I installed that today and it prints. Everything is fine with the exception that I still have an issue with the CLI-551 BK. See attachments. So I think that would suggest that the problem is not with the printhead even taking into consideration the inks.

Sorry to say but you got a defective printhead from the seller of the "Non-OEM" printhead. There are no 3rd party manufacturers of Canon printheads, so all Canon printheads are OEM. But not all Canon printheads offered for sale on Ebay, Amazon, Alibaba and similar are new and OK. Some sellers clean used and probably defective printheads to look like new and package these in counterfeit foil bags and cardboard boxes. I guess you got the printhead from China? Could you post the link to the seller?

Copying your uploaded nozzle checks and enlarging them in an image handling program like Irfan View I see damage in PGBK in both the old and the new(?) printhead. Not much but both print heads show a little fuzziness and the old one also beginning double vertical lines. The dye black BK is worse. Here both printheads show the fuzziness that is a typical damage in these print heads after using an unsuitable ink.

Mmm, it was sold as Condition: Brand New but I knew it was not original. Seller had good feedback and sold from London. Delivered within a few days. However, seller based in China. I have sent a message to the seller stating what you have said and requested a refund. Can but hope but it was through Ebay so their is a refund. Guess I will get a new printer instead mech cheaper than the original print heads. Just difficult to get a reasonable priced printer with individual ink cartridges .

Thanks for your help.
