Can't Install HP 1010 Printer In Windows 7 Pro

Hi,

I need some advice on getting my HP 1010 Printer to work. I have a Dell computer with Windows 7 Pro installed. I tried to print a page and my computer says it doesn't recognize the printer. Yet when I went into the device manager it shows an icon for the printer.

I originally ran the installation disk that came with the printer and even downloaded the latest software and drivers from the HP site. I also tried to uninstall and re-install nothing. When I tried to remove the printer I received a message saying I couldn't remove the printer it was HP protected or something similar.

I tried the printer on my husband's computer and it works fine. I am completely lost, I can't install or uninstall. I would really appreciate any guidance with my problem.

Well computers come in 32bit and 64bit these days, so drivers for printer needs to be the correct ones. Try to unplug the printer, then install anything you installed from control panel.

Download the proper drivers from:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Deskjet-1010-Printer-series/5157543/model/5157545/drivers/

We need more info like error messages, screenshots etc.
