Now that you got her working, please don’t mess with her, she has a nasty side to her, and don’t believe everything your hear or read from Canon, they mostly talk through their arse when it comes to the Pro 1..That's what was in Canon's documentation regarding firmware, it was to perform a nozzle check and check the bottom for firmware version.
You can alter how long you want the printer to stay on from after use, from 15 mins to 240 mins or never, you decide, but don’t leave her on indefinitely she won’t like that..I had left the printer on overnight (which it shut itself off after the 240 min window) and just turned it on and attempted the driver reinstall.
Good luck with your new printer, she will produce beautiful prints for you, but you better have deep pockets..
That's normal and as you were told it would happen..Surprisingly, this morning when I attempted again Windows updated to a Canon driver (yay!).
P.S. you can upgrade or change any driver you want but NEVER do a Firmware upgrade on this or any other Canon printer, no good will come of it, that I can guarantee..
