MY FIRST TIME ON HERE. I HOPE I AM ASKING MY QUESTION PROPERLY...

I HAVE AN OLDER CANON S9000 WHICH I LOVED BUT SEEMS TO BE CLOGGED UP NOW. R.I.P. I HAVE PURCHASED A NEW CANON PIXMA PRO -100. MY QUESTION IS THIS…I HAVE MANY INK TANKS LEFT OVER FROM THE S9000 AND AM WONDERING IF THESE FULL TANKS MAY WORK WITH THE PIXMA PRO-100 (ARE THEY CLI-8'S ? ) IF NOT ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LESS EXPENSIVE INK? THANKS FOR ANY SHARED KNOWLEDGE.

The Pro 100 is using the CLI-42 cartridges, that are CLI-8 cartridges with a different chip, so the CLI-8 cartridges can be used in the Pro 100 if you attach CLI-42 chips to them. But I think the CLI-42 ink set is different from the CLI-8 ink set, so I think colours will be off with CLI-8 inks. Maybe profiling can solve that problem?

Your questions are fine but a bit more details wouldn’t go a miss.

Let’s start with your S9000, clogged up ! Can you give more details on that, can it be revived so you can use up the rest of your cartridges ?

The ink cartridges you have left over from your S9000 won’t actually fit into your new printer despite them been the same as CLI-8’s nor do that have any nipples to hold on a new chip.

New compatible Inks and a redsetter are available from percisioncolors.com at a fraction of the cost of OEM inks.

The Hat is right. The S9000 is not using CLI-8 cartridges but the older unchipped BCI-6 cartridges, which cannot replace the CLI-42 cartridges.

Maybe the S9000 can be saved? If it is not completely dead could you try uploading a nozzle check?

Maybe the service manual and parts catalog could be helpful in repairing the printer. You find them here: http://elektrotanya.com/canon_i9100..._s820mg_s830d_s900_s9000_sm.pdf/download.html and here: http://elektrotanya.com/canon_i9100_s9000_parts.pdf/download.html

Before download see the instructions in this post: http://www.printerknowledge.com/thr...-post-them-here-sticky.5071/page-9#post-36684

I can't seem to find the drivers for the canon s9000 for a mac...can't find them online also. I would guess that I need to have the driver to test the unit. Sorry to be so inept.

Will the temporary cartridges that come with new Pixma pro-100 have the chip on them?

If Apple don’t have any suitable drivers then try Canon but be sure to look in the archive section it may still be available there !

The pro 100 does come with full cartridges not temporary ones despite been shown as set-ups and they also have chips on board, plus these cartridges will work in your S9000..
