Canon Pixma Pro-10 B200 Error

My printer just randomly stopped working and it's giving me the dreaded B200 error. I bought it used in March and it was working fine this whole time.

If I unplug it for a while and plug it back in, sometimes it will run through the initialization process, but then it quits and flashes the cancel and power light.

I've tried the reset procedure, where I hold down the cancel button, then hold the power button, then press the cancel button 5 times, and then let go, but it usually just goes back to flashing lights immediately.

At one point I tried swapping the ink cartridges, and that seemed to do the trick at first. I managed to do a nozzle test and a test print, but then it went back to erroring out.

Does anybody have any advice on troubleshooting?

Ok, very weird fix. I saw a comment on a video that mentioned trying the CD tray door. It's the short flap behind the main catch tray with the Canon logo on it. With the main hood open and printhead exposed, I tried flipping the CD door down, which appears to raise a metal bar at the front of the printer, under the print head.

With everything open, I powered it on. I tried toggling the CD flap open and closed a few times as the printhead went through the initialization process. Somehow this got it to go through the full initialization process with the hood open. After the initialization process finished, I crossed my fingers and closed the hood, and the power light went solid.

I was able to do a nozzle check and a test print.

This leads me to think it's a firmware issue, or some glitch in the initialization process, because it doesn't appear to be hardware related.

I don't know if this is a permanent fix. I saw a post where they went back to normal operation after clearing the error, but I've also seen others where it's recurring.

Just get a new Print head before you use up all your inks..

The B200 error won’t go away otherwise..

The B200 error is sometimes intermittent before becoming permanent. That's the reason that strange procedures from YouTube sometimes seem to work in resetting the error.

I suggest to stop using the printer and remove the printhead while the printer can still turn on, so you won't have to take apart the printer to replace the printhead.

Do only buy a new printhead from a regular dealer of Canon spare parts.

Thanks for the tips, I'll keep it in mind. If anyone knows a good source for the QY6-0085 in the US please let me know. The best deal I could find, that looks like a reputable dealer on eBay, is $345.

Try and stay away from EBay purchases for print heads, you don’t know what you’ve got till it arrives and then it might be too late, as said by @PeterBJ only buy from authorised dealers or Canon Inc.. (Caveat Emptor)

I read on the forum that the best supplier of Canon spare parts in the US is Canon. Printheads from eBay, Amazon, Aliexpress etc are most often used and defective printheads that have been cleaned to look like new and packaged in counterfeit foil bags and cardboard boxes.
