Yep. Warped Pigment Black nozzles. This is thought to be caused by heat, possibly from third party ink that does not sufficiently cool the nozzles during printing. Maybe it is a defect in the design/manufacture. You're guess is as good as mine.

There is also a defect in the Dye ink Black. It looks like the Pigment Black warping extended into the Dye-based Black nozzles. It could just be a separate electrical failure independent of the rest of the print head.

Unfortunately I think it is academic at this point. Your print head is most likely finished and only a new print head will resolve the printing defects. You can try the workaround I described previously.

Also the brand new print head that was delivered today didn't work in the IP7250 so there must be another reason for the 5 orange flashes error.

Are you getting your print head from an Authorised dealer or EBay ?

As mentioned by stratman the blurring is most likely caused by an unsuitable ink. So I suggest to use the new(?) printhead in the MG5550 instead of trying to sell it. If the printhead is a bad one from the far East then you will avoid trouble with an angry buyer! If the printhead is OK then your MG 5550 will be back in business.

But see this thread from the druckerchannel.de Canon forum. It seems to confirm the suspicion about the bad ink. Notice that it only took one set of aftermarket cartridges to ruin a printhead that had printed less than 400 pages. I don't know what ink or cartridges you are using, but it might be a good idea to try another brand.

I bought a second hand Canon IP7250 a few weeks ago. I've had terrible luck with second hand printers in the past but this one seemed pretty good.
The nozzle check page printed perfectly and I could see it had printed less than 250 pages and the ink in the printer was still the original Canon cartridges that came with it.

Did a check on my own ip7250 and it looks perfect....and it prints photos perfect.
It is when I have a look at the details it looks like Canon printhead start to degrade from day #1 of use....and it is not built to last

I have a iP4500 with the original head in it for more than ten years and printed more than 50,000, so do you reckon I got a lemon..

This is my second-hand MG7550 prior to printhead cleaning...and quite similar to "silkystefan" which shows around 4000 pages and actually caputski...

This was ten years ago, not 20..
The reason why the MG7550 head is dying, is because these printers don’t like to be run on 3rd party inks..

The printhead of ip4500 was developed around 20 years ago...
Good to know that my MG7550 has been run with Canon OEM ink only prior to my nozzle-test...
