I have used look-alike 551 and 550 ink cartridges on my Canon iP 7250 for years with great success, usually manufactured or supplied by "ink power ". My latest batch has changed. When a cartridge is empty the LED at the front end flashes red, when a full cartridge is installed the LED shows steadily. On the latest batches which seem to be offered by all suppliers the LEDs do not illuminate in either circumstance ; at least I thought so. The LED is still there but the little prism/light pipe which carries the light to the top of the cartridge is missing so just the whole cartridge glows a bit. I have found that using a very fine saw the prism can be removed from an old cartridge and slotted into a new one successfully but it is a bit of a fag ! Has anybody else noticed the problem, found a better supplier or found another answer.
