The question is can I use the MIS ink that I used to fill the cli 8 cartridges in the cli 226 successfully?
I have a MP 810 which after 4 years of refilling finally plugged up the pigment side of the print-head. In the past a flush with warm water and followup with alcohol corrected the problem. I replaced the head and it promptly plugged. The head is now soaking hoping to soften the clog. My backup, which was in storage for those 4 years is a IP4200 and it too has a blocked pigment channel. I probably made the mistake of refilling the same PG cartridge many times.

If I can not get them to work, I will replace them with a new Canon multifunction that will no doubt have the cli 226 cartridges. From browsing here it seems that the 220 & 226 are the same. I have from 2 to 4 oz each of the dye base and 6 oz of the pigment ink. I may just discard the pigment ink, because of the problems with the heads and buy fresh.

I use CLI-8, CLI-521, and BCI-6 cartridges all with the same I.S. inks and they all work just fine for me,
but if youre very fussy then you may find a slight difference in colour.

If your still having a problem with your pigment black then try using the photo black (BK) in your big cartridge instead
of the pigment ink, doing that can sometimes help clear some of the clogged nozzles.

While youre waiting on your print head to soak and clean up why dont you purge some of your old cartridges
and get them back in pristine condition and ready to a few nozzles checks..:)

Thanks Hat, I don't have any spares.:( I have been using the same ones, filling them with the German Method. Started with the top fill and it was always a bit messy :( , and discovered the German method and think its the greatest.:D

Black pigment carts are notorious for clogging unless regularly purged. I would think about 5/6 refills plenty before cleaning but The Hat is the real expert and he may well think differently.

I bought my first spare carts from E-bay quite cheaply, but www.Octoinkjet.co.uk also supplies nice clean used carts complete with excellent clips for reasonable prices.

On the contrary regular purging of your cartridges is a great way of keeping all of them in perfect condition.
It also helps to be using a good pigment black to begin with..:)
