Black/Grey Ink Cartridge Printer?

Is there such a printer which utilizes multiple shades of grey ink cartridges? I was told that there is such a black and white printer for exceptional black/white images but can't seem to find any info on this. Any idea or was this fellow just fooling me? Thanks.

Hi Bounce,

The most famous printers using dedicated black and grey cartridges are the Epson K3 printers (K stands for blacK and 3 for the 3 black and grey cartridges: black, light black (grey) and light light black (light grey)). I myself use the Epson Pro 3800 and this printer has in total 9 cartridges, including 4 black and grey cartridges: matte black (matte media), photo black (glossy papers), light black (grey) and light light black (light grey). A smaller version for this inkset can be found in the Epson R2400 or the latest R2880 (Vivid K3).
