PFI-1000 will work (I buy the CO, expensive but good), as ink from previous large format printers.
The ink set is different, but for most 3th party inks you need custom profiles too.

PS: PRO-10 GY is indeed rather dark, I tried to make it with large format PGY and PBK but needed more BK than GY.

I also use Octoink inks in my Pro10S - very happy with the results. The red is perhaps just a touch less vibrant than the OEM red - perhaps? - it's so close that it's hard to tell. I keep a red OEM cartridge on hand to drop in in the event that I'm dissatisfied with Octoink red but to be honest, I've not really found the need. I fill using the Octoink fill clip attached to a luer syringe - weigh the cartridge first to see how much it needs (1g ~= 1ml) then draw that amount of ink into the syringe and inject it back into the cartridge via the fill clip. Simple, clean and quick. Happy camper!
