So, I just bought a Toshiba e-studio 2830c at an auction. It's a 265 pound monster, and seems to be immune to the cartridge memory issues that sidelined my HP color laser.
That does not mean it is immune to issues, however. Toshiba's site barfs on the model number, and the Toshiba Universal Driver 2 prints but doesn't seem to control the printer correctly. All the settings are present, but I always get full duplex no matter what I select, and one copy no matter how many I tell it to make with that driver. I have installed a Windows 7 driver under windows 10, and i can get single page output. I have not tested number of copies yet. Does anyone know of an available driver that is known fully working?
This also came out of either a floor company or a Chinese restaurant (not sure), and someone has set an administrator password. I have tried maintenance setting mode (0,8, code 1778) which is supposed to reset the admin pass. Either it doesn't work, or I'm doing it wrong. Password is not returned to default, so I can't change the network settings. I'm currently running it via USB.
Is anyone here well enough versed on these machines to be of help?
