A3 printer for freelance graphic designer (Epson 1290 EOL). Epson Stylus Photo 1500W?

Ok have not clicked the PAY button. The Epson L1800 looks interesting? Should I hold out for it?

Can't seem to find the L1800 in Switzerland yet. In US it seems to cost $800. So it will cost same or more in Europe. I can get the 1500w for $370 add another $100 for CISS+ink and I will still save $300. Hmmm.....

Go for the 1500w. Same machine, only difference is the ink tank and that it costs double the money.

As for the printing with the dye OEM inks.
I've made some leaflets double sided with the claria dye inks. Ok , pretty much decent quality in the "text and photo" setting. I've printed some pictures in glossy epson paper. Nice quality there, it is a photo printer after all. I 've also printed some posters A3 size. There i had a problem. The humidity affects the dye inks. I definitely need pigment inks if i'm going to print posters, or some kind of coated paper that isn't affected by humidity.

Overall i'm satisfied with the 1500w.

What humidity are we talking about? how many percent? I live near the sea and humidity is like 70% all the time no problems with dye inks.

I don't think you will have a problem. Maybe humidity isn't the right word, but you have to forgive me , english is not my native language.

What i mean is, say you 've printed for your shop little A3's that write 30% off. If you tape them to the window they are in the spot that the outside temperature and the inside temperature meet. If outside there is 2 celsius and inside 23 celsius because the radiator is on, in the glass there will be extra humidity, much like the mirror of your shower. This is the humidity problem i'm talking about, because it ruins the print.

For normal humitidy, but not in form of mist or almost water like, i think there will be no problem.

I suspect OP is making advertising/sales "posters" for shops to stick on their windows for customers to see advertisements.
What is happening is there is condensation on the inside where his poster is mounted. The condensation is wetting his media and the dye ink is going blotchy, as it does when wetted.
I have NO idea how to fix that!!

If you’re serious about selling advertisement posters then pigment ink is essential to maintain your creditability with your customers, dye inks do work in certain situations but it’s better to play safe and use pigment I reckon..

Right! And this is why i ordered a pigment set of inks.

All i was saying is the same as what you are saying now. Dye ink just will not do for some uses.
