    Newbie questions

It seems like I'm loosing my Black toner as well so it's time to seriously consider what to buy. I take it you don't recommend ANYTHING other than new, original OEM cartridges? Or are you saying "try 3rd party stuff at your own risk"?? The cheapest originals I can find come in at £298...

    Newbie questions

Sorry, I'm still confused. On one end, you are telling me the difference between refilled OEM (but with 3rd-party toner inside) and all-3rd-party carts (cart and toner is 3rd-party). On the other end, are you telling me to skip ANY and ALL 3rd-party products for laser printers?

Sorry, what's the difference between a "3rd-party toner cartridge" and a "3rd-party toner"?? Wouldn't the 3rd-party cartridge contain 3rd-party toner?

    Newbie questions

Hello again guys! Does anyone have a recommendation for a good wireless duplex color laser printer? I currently have a HP MFP 277dw and it just decided that the color (C, M) levels are low and it automatically prints in B&W. I had a Canon LBP7110Cw that I was able to print for twice longer by...

    Newbie questions

Thanks for the reply! How "challenging" is toner refilling? I hear people say the same with inkjet cart refilling, but it's easy-as-pie given the right equipment. Also, are third-party toners cheaper/better/similar to original ones?

    Newbie questions

Hello! In a rather impulsive mood, I bought a Canon LBP7110Cw because it was cheap and came with some extra goodies (a 1TB external HDD and a cheapo tablet). I've been yearning for a color laser printer for ages now.... I used to be naughty and print out stuff at work but we're no longer doing...

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

Nope, it doesn't drip when the clip isn't on. Thanks!

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

I've not loaded the carts to the printer yet. With my green cart, whenever I take it off the clip, I notice a small blob of ink on the white silicon plug. I wipe it off, a few hours later when I recheck, there's some ink on the plug again. Does this mean my seal isn't too good? Or have I...

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

Finally refilled the carts tonight! The cyan cart still had a bit of moisture on the reservoir chamber but I decided to go on. Firstly, I must say I really like the soft plastic bottles! Very easy to refill the carts! I thought I would have to resort to my syringes but after the first...

BCI 6 OEM ink into CLI 8 tanks??

Depends... is the BCI-6 ink compatible with CLI-8? I know the carts look similar, but a quick check on Octoinkjet shows that the inks for a i9900/i9950 are not listed as similar to or compatible with the inks for the Pro 9000. However, if you check the "Other Details" tab, both have "mpn...

    Canon IP4850 paper lost inside

And I hope you took pics!!

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

Hmmm.... seems like some carts were dry after one paper towel, others have managed to moisten the second paper towel as well, but not by much. Another thing I've noticed --- some carts had a rather large droplet of water in the ink reservoir chamber. I couldn't get it into the foam so I turned...

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

The idea here is for that NOT to happen for a good few years ;) Re: wicking, I suspect the corner fold is enough to make contact with the sponge, and thus, wick the moisture out of it. I also jam it into the orange clip as you can see, so that holds the paper towel in place. Just inspected...

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

While I am curious about the pigment cart (The Hat's pic shows it wasn't very clean), I don't have one so I can't really try it out. The Hat, I can be a bit OCD sometimes so I guess that's a bit of a benefit here. Of course, if this thread can be of benefit for future refillers, that's a big...

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

Ah! Finally got the time to work on my "new" OEM carts today. Removed the ball from the top inlet port, gave each cart about 1 liter's worth of flush, and now I got nice and clean carts! My purge method was a bit different. I did not like pushing the water into the cart for fear of...

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

Lol, I wonder where you got the "chips" from... I meant clips. And yeah, if your pic shows the OEM clip, then the ones I got are not OEM --- they look like that purge clip, but without the luer bit at the bottom.

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

Er, ah, no idea how to determine if my water is "hard" or not, but thanks for confirming that Brita-filtered would be good. As it is free, might as well use the filtered water all the way. Still wondering about question #3! As for the OEM clips, I'm not sure if the clips included when I...

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

Quick questions regarding purging: I've read some recommendations to run some distilled water through the cart after flushing with tap water --- 1. How much water to run through? 2. Is tap water run through a BRITA filter good enough? 3. When using the top-fill method plus the cartridge...

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

LOL, I agree. I would want to refill and keep a bit of white sponge at the top of the cart --- just to be sure I don't oversaturate the sponge. I guess this is easier and more reliable with the top-fill method. I guess experimenting with the Freedom method would be a good excuse to have...

    Thoughts on the Canon iP7250?

I'm really torn at the moment. It seems like the Freedom method is the best way to end up with undamaged carts, but then the top-fill method just has a great track record.
