Now HP has done a refresh of that top of the line line: OfficeJet 8600 and new carts: 950 & 951. (old printer was the 8500A and 940 carts)
It would be interesting to know what HP is doing. Im the curious type.
The fist thing I see is that they have tweaked the price a bit to their advantage...
I dont have an answer re your BW print issue - but your ink cost estimate seems right on track according to someone who analyzed this just as you did.
Scroll down to the review by: By D. Gardner (United States)
He states: "A note on ink: - my 13" x 19" are about $3.50 - $5.50 for ink"...
Looks now like I was bit drunk, when I wrote that. I was inconsistent....
Cost per liter on respective model got reversed....
I was postulating that Epson had raised the ink cost (in ml) as they roll from R1900 over to the newer R2000 printer. Detect any trends.
After some digging I guess...
Yeah, I was a bit curious about what the "real" price was. Or lets say..what Epson is up to.. It looks like (in USD) the MSRP is $500, and last month (through october) there was a $150 mail in coupon. Now for november, I think Epson are coming out with a new coupon for -$200. That means a new...
Im going to have to agree with Websnail, that if you do use refill, you REALLY should avoid 3rd part *pigment* inks in it.
My personal experience is that you run a real risk of clogging (or burning) the heads if you do. I played with this and got burned.
I would suggest to either buy HPs OEM...
I dont think you need any CD - rather look here:

Sorry for not responding!
OK, I need to look up the seller (Ebay) were we bought it. I haven't done that yet. OK, so Im not the guy who actually placed the order.. Im the guy who is fixing the problem. I hope that explains why I don't have an answer (yet)
But...... Im quite excited to report...
I would hate to go through the trouble of emptying and refilling...
Im kind of soon thinking of simply using a Dremel tool and shaving off the "misplaced" fins on the bottom of the cart to make the carts fit. But it would be nice if anyone knows anything about those. As I sort of hinted at...
Who is a guru on Brother toner carts?
Background:
I have a Brother MFC-8890 that uses TN650 carts (or half filled TN620's)
I bought what I thought was refilled TN650 carts, but they wont fit: the seller sold me what he says are TN580, "-and they fit sir, have a nice day". Well, these carts...
Its kind of interesting what you can discover when you have multiple printers hooked up..
I think I need help... I've got five printers hooked up already. Four of them are inkjets, all are very different. Now I see a new a new R1900 on Cragislist for 200 bucks and I need to stop myself from...
Thanks for comments.
Pharmacist, can you further explain the meaning of "double sponge" in the carts?
OK, I get it...pigment (black) does cause issues and is not maintenance free. But..Im...*darn* impressed by the laser-like sharpness and blackness I see from the black pigment ink on plain...
I just wanted to share a picture of an Epson CX4200. This was a printer a customer gave me yesterday since it was "broken". Terrible printouts with some "smeared goo" on the paper plus clogged nozzles of course. I wanted to test and tinker with a consumer all pigment (Durabrite) since I didn't...
Looks like that printer can be had for $75...very cheap.
I have another variation on that series, meaning "564" cartridge-based, I have a c410a. The main thing to share, is that mine has five carts (photo black) which kicks in when you're printing on photo-paper. If you don't plan on printing...
I decided to test a reset utility software (WIC reset 1.5.42) to read the Waste Ink Counter values..and now Im curious what they mean?
..this is on a new Artisan 800.
5.35% (424 of 7923)
0.09% (11 of 12284)
I could guess, but I thought I would ask you guys...
My understanding is that I...
Im about to install a CISS on an Artisan 800. But before I do..I'm considering a waste tank installation. Should I consider it "a must"?
Why do I ask, well it doesn't seem to be discussed as much on Canons and HPs in the same class? (or am I simply not paying attention..)
I suppose the...
Old timers in this forum have, Im sure, seen this old Wall Street article I point out below.
I simply found it interesting.
I stumbled on it because someone in the forum had mentioned the so called "egg yolk test" which, if I understand correctly, is a simple indicator to see if an ink is of...
Im in the States, but for the sake of a friend in Europe I contacted an un-named CISS vendor..(it should not really matter which one at this point)
..I noticed that for the modern 364/564 HP cartridge based CISS, this particular European vendor used ONLY dye inks, and does not provide pigment...
