I haven't been following the inkjet market recently because my old Pixma MP540 is still going strong for my needs, but a friend asked me to look at some models for him.
Does anyone know why printer resolution dropped in recent years? 🤔
I mean my Pixma is at least 4800x2400 dpi for printing and...
Wow, thanks for your effort Grandad. I haven't heard about kogation (and I tend to read here a lot).
Will take a closer look and try some soaking and Windex with ammonia? But isn't ammonia corrosive - even in small amounts?
Sorry, this is the farthest my scanner can go. 1200dpi (probably interpolated)
Almost dot-like but not enough...either way I was wondering what your experience is telling you.
Could it be a clog? Could it be ink-flow?
Can any clog be unclogged with enough soaking?
There is no ink-residue...
http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/7742/scan1202190001.gif here is the scanned nozzle check
I did a print head alignment after it and the cyan and magenta seemed better but dye-black is the same. Will dilute the ink with a few drops of water in the cartridges.
Could it be air inside the...
InkTec pigment black was not good. I tried it early on 2 years ago and haven't used it since then.
My dye inks from InkTec were fine before, I'm not sure why my dye black got strange, maybe I didn't print enough or ink aging over time because I bought a large batch. My ink is about 6 months old...
The new nozzle check.

I washed the printhead very carefully (also soaked it for 24h), also saw this interesting link http://www.pcug.org.au/boesen/print_head/cleaning.htm .
The check at first was better, but after 24h in the printer...
After 2+ years of using my Pixma MP540 I noticed a strange problem with my nozzle checks lately.
I'm refilling my CLI-521 tanks with InkTec ink and I'm really happy with the results but my dye-black appears kinda strange.

My Canon printer doesn't automatically initiate cleaning cycles if not in use.
I almost always keep it on so I can use the scanner (Pixma series).
When I finish printing and not print for about a minute, it always locks it's head, so it doesn't matter if it's on or off. The head is still parked...
Yes, as I mentioned it in other posts.
Ink refilling is not so easy as it seems. :D
Everything is OK with colors, beautiful prints, but this black is on my nerves. Will try your method, hope it does not react and clog something.
10x!!!
Edit: It worked - the results are better. 100x!
I recently refilled my MP540 cartriges and everythink is OK - no leaking, the color cartridges work perfectly fine but I have a problem with the black pigment one.
I refilled it with pigment ink, I think it's a quality one.

I can print text, but when I print...
OK I just tried adding more magenta (+10 and +30 on the scale in the drivers) but Canon's printing software Easy-PhotoPrint EX was already running and I thought of that only after printing 2 more samples of a photo. They look the same as if I haven't changed magenta at all. So I will have to try...
@ pharmacist - I used InkTec ( http://inktec.com/ ) new inks for Cli-521. The colors are great actually (I'm a newbie but seem pretty much almost exactly the same as original). The colors are almost flushed I think, I was using the old colours untill almost dry in the tank area, and the new...
I recently filled my Canon printer with new 3rd party ink.
I really like the results overall. I have printed a couple of test photos with the original Canon Cli-521 ink and now I printed one of the photos with the new ink. The photo is great but compared to the original ink is a little bluish...
I was away for a few days so here's the result of my 1st time refilling: actually it went totally great! o.O :)
I didn't use the german method cause the original CLI-521 cartridges are not fully transparent. The only clear plastic part is the ink tank (not the sponge area) so I used the...
I also have MP540 and plan to refill for the first time in about 2 days.
I plan to use the method with the top hole and will post pics about how it went.
I think the main mistake is that you didn't seal the hole on the bottom where the ink flows from the sponge to the printhead. Did you seal it...
Has anyone bought any compatible cartridges for Cli-521 and PG-520 and from where?
Do you have any observations which cartridge brands leak or don't work OK.
On the german printer forum I read that Pelikan have great compatibles but they plan to release cli-521 in October, which is so far away...
