Hi all.
Printer: Canon MG5765
I'm posting this incident in the off chance that it may help someone else in the future.
I've owned a succession of Canon printers for several decades and generally been quite satisfied with them. This thing I've only had for a few weeks and have already decided...
Thanks people, some good suggestions there.
I've been tied up with other things all day and too buggered to try any of it right now, but will get back to it with a fresh head tomorrow.
To The Hat: wouldn't uninstalling all USB entries from Device Manager resolve any USB confusions? I seem to...
Well folks, that last post was just on a year ago, and now I'm back to report that the problem still has not been resolved!
Why so long?
I was away for several months right after that last post and left my PC & printer in the hands of a relative, as I had a laptop to use while I was away. Then...
Yes, it copies just fine.
It's a proper thick USB cable, which I think is a bit over 2 m in length. I used along cable because the layout means the route has to be a bit round-about to keep the cable out of the way. It also runs to a 13 port hub.
I've always had a hub, but thinking back this...
Thanks for taking the effort with the picture. Your printer controls layout and LCD screen look almost exactly the same as mine.
"Forward scanned data to a PC" is selected.
Couldn't find the exact file storage location you mentioned, but it gave me a clue as to what to look for. Eventually...
Yes.
Part of the troubleshooting problem is that I can't remember what PC-based program popped up in response to a scan at the printer; it really is quite some time since I last did any scanning. Whether the installation CD installed a program, or whether it used something I already had...
Hi guys.
Canon MG6250
I have been very happy with this printer, and it has worked fine for some time now.
It's quite a while since I tried to do any scanning, but it did used to scan OK at one time.
Today I wanted to scan some documents to the PC. Selected Scan from the printer's home...
I was finally able to speak to an actual human being at Canon customer support, and this is what I found out...
When I bought my MP550 it was one of a range that Canon described as "Multifunction", which meant print/copy/scan/fax. Some of the multifunction printers, including the MP550, were...
The Canon MP550 that has served me very well for quite a long time is currently in hospital and will probably cost more to fix than it's worth, so I think it is probably time for me to look at buying a replacement.
I have had such good service from the MP550 and am familiar with the way Canon...
Prior to reaching this solution I had tried positioning the CD tray at every conceivable position between arrows-lined-up and pushed all the way home, none of which ever made any difference to the rate of successful feeds.
For the "gentle push" technique that I have had success with, I push the...
Thank you for the pointer to that page. Fortunately I decided to read through the member comments before tackling the various recommended fixes.
This recommendation by one forum member worked for me!
"Guess what : the problem was a simple mechanical one - the printer wasnt able to pull the CD...
Yes, I cleaned the reflectors thoroughly with soft tissue and they look quite OK to me.
I can't see any visible strobe and I'd never looked before, so I don't know if there should be one visible or not. Perhaps someone with an MP530 can check this and let me know.
Hi all.
My Canon MP530 was purchased in Australia and printed CDs right from day one. There have always been occasional rejections of the tray, but in the main it's worked fairly well.
I usually need to print on CDs in batches of about 20-25, but only every several weeks.
A few weeks ago when...
Maybe everything does happen for a reason!
When you mentioned the ultrasonic bath I dismissed that as being an unrealistic option for most people, and promptly forgot about it.
Yesterday while at a client's office (podiatrist) I discovered they have an ultrasonic cleaner, which I am welcome to...
I sent a message to Image Specialist Inks asking if they have a distributor/reseller in Australia. Shipping costs of anything weighty are over the top!
In the meantime, I have ordered a half-litre of Isopropyl Alcohol from local pharmacist.
Q1. Is it OK to soak the jets part of the head in...
I did a Service Test Print before I took it in:
Head TempBK = 26.5
Head TempC = 27.0
Env Temp = 21
I don't know if Celsius is used globally by Canon, but those of course are Celsius temps.
Great info guys. Thanks very much.
While at the dealers I bought a second set of carts for the MP530 at a cost of a few cents short of a hundred bucks (in US$) for the combo pack (color) plus a PGI-5BK, so you can see consumables are much dearer here.
So going on Trigger's last post, I can...
Thanks guys - I'm gonna have to sit down and study all that.
I just dropped the i865 off at the Canon Service Center again. Last chance. If they fix it under warranty (or at least for very cheap) all well and good. If not I will buy a head myself directly from Canon and I'll be looking for...
UPDATE:
Well, after soaking in water for a couple of hours, and standing on a pad wet with methylated spirits overnight, I put the head back in and the printout still wasn't right, but I couldn't tell exactly what was happening.
So I created a test page of my own - a page full of 8 pixel wide...
Hi Trigger and ghwellsjr.
> Canon has done an outstanding job in engineering these

Well, live and learn! I confess that the "engineering" of the cartridge itself is not something I was...
