Thank you for your very detailed response. I have a working MP560, and I bought this used one hoping I would have another working MP560. This one with the error has a set of OEM cartridges I can use. I was thinking I should clean the print head, but I should not try the head in the working...
I bought a none working Canon MP830 printer with an error code 5400. I bought the printer for $2.00 for the cartridges and printhead, but if I could fix the printer it would be nice. Any ideas what is the 5400 error?

Are you saying that you turn off the printer by way of the power strip? If that is the case, that is a no no for any printer. Turn the printer off with the on/off button on the printer.

but wastes a whopping 5 ml. on the cartridges that have no ink monitoring enabled."
Did you mean five tenths of a ml or five ml (.5 ml or 5 ml)? Five ml is half of the usable...
I give up. I got lights to come on the cartridges, and to print all colors but not pigment black. There is no hint that pigment black should be printing. I did some printer head cleanings, and still no hint of pigment black. Now the printer will not print again, and no lights on the...
I tried what you suggested and I still be the message that the cartridges are not recognized, but I notice the message at the top of the printers LCD screen- U043 not U045. I must have read the LCD wrong before- it reads U043
When I connected and install the printer to a computer, the computer...
I bought another Canon printer from a thrifty store. I know this is a chancy purchase, because the store has an as is no return policy. The printer is a Canon a MP560 and the previous owner refilled non-OEM cartridges. I cleaned the Printer head, and I put all new cartridges- 220BK, and the...
I bought three unopened boxes of BCI-3e (Y,M,C) at a thrift store this week, and I am glad to hear that they will work in a iP6000 printer. Because the iP6000 has no chips, is the location and shape of the prism on the BCI-3e cartridge the same as on the BCI-6 cartridge? I know the location...
Yes, thank you for catching that. To the question of two CLI-8 cartridges in the Canon iP6000D, will the optical ink sensor work when the printer was designed to use BCI-6 cartridges?
Thank you, Al
1. Now I am confused on the CLI-8 ink cartridges- What is the usefullness of the optical ink sensor?
2. The CLI-6 has no chip, and I would guess there is an optical ink sensor that lets one know when the ink is low.
3. I gave my Granddaughter a Canon iP6000D with four CLI-6 cartridges and two...
