I have a Dell C1765nfw which I have used with 3rd party toners very successfully, for several years.
A few days ago, after printing a single page, the printer's screen showed a ctd error (colour toner density, I believe). According to the Dell website, the solution is to clean the ctd sensors...
I've only recently acquired my 8550, so hopefully it'll be a long time before I need any refills.
However, for future reference, as the OEM 106 inks are a bit cheaper than OEM 114 inks, are they a direct match (pigment black and grey excepted, of course)? And do the bottle nozzles fit the 8550...
Congratulations on your new printer! Coincidentally, I received my own 8550 today and have just finished setting it up. It replaced an Epson 1500W with a failed printhead.
I'm similarly impressed with it - of course, it's early days but it's looking good. And is it childish of me to say that...
Thanks for the advice, gentlemen. I take it, then, that there is no reliable source of new printheads? Given the small amount of printing I do, it's difficult to justify the cost of a new printer.
Aah... that sounds bad, but it would (presumably) explain some of the issues I've been having.
A quick look on ebay shows several Chinese sellers offering replacement heads, at widely varying prices, from about £55 to over £170. The illustrations all look the same; are these replacements...
Sorry for the delay in replying - haven't had much time lately!
I'm posting the two nozzle check patterns from yesterday (Nozzle Check Patterns.jpg). The top pattern is before head cleaning, and shows the problem with the magenta. There are also, now I look closely, some broken yellow lines...
Thanks, Ink stained Fingers and The Hat, for your replies.
My first prints were on A3 paper. When I spotted the problem, I tried a print on 5"x7", which was the same size as I used for the sample I posted. I used pale blue patches in the sample as that shows the problem quite well, but from...
After a long gap, I recently decided to make a few prints. After refilling the carts (I'm using Precision Colors ink), I was pleased to get a perfect nozzle check pattern.
However, the prints have a thin, fairly faint, purple line down the left-hand side (i.e., the edge that comes out of the...
Gentlemen, thank you for taking the time to reply. Now I have confidence ordering from Aliexpress, and hopefully one of the suppliers will confirm that their resetter works with their carts. I am prepared for a long wait!
As regards the ink, I was rather hoping that @websnail would be along...
Looking for some advice, please…
I am finally getting to the point where I need to order more ink for my 1500w. Having read through the posts here – many thanks to all for them – it seems to me that, taking into account price, relative stability and ease of use, the best inks for my purposes...
The 1500 profile looks a lot better to me, too, which is a little disappointing. But - without having a Claria ink image to compare it with - the 1500 profile isn't bad.
A Potty is definitely on the 'to-do' list... but I was thinking to wait until the warranty has expired before fitting it, even though it might be a bit messier to do it then!
I too have recently purchased a 1500W, though I have yet to fire it up!
Having read through the excellent advice and information posted on these forums, my intention is, once I have exhausted the supplied Claria cartridges (and, given their size, that probably won't be very long :(), I will...
Thanks for all the advice - even more to chew over!
Looking at PeterBJ's links to the new printers, it's a bit disappointing that there's no mention of the L1800, and none of the new ones appear to be dedicated photo printers.
Having looked at the manual for the L1800 (which is more easily available than the printer itself!), there's no mention of barcodes when refilling the ink tanks.
But I wonder how L1800 ink compares with Epson Claria, or any of the third-party inks, particularly in terms of longevity?
Have just joined after having lurked for several months.
Currently I am scanning my slides of steam railways taken in the 80s and 90s... and occasionally I like to print some, so hence my interest in printers!
My Epson 1270 died at Christmas and I'm mulling over possible replacements; part...
I've been chewing over a replacement for my 1270, which gave up the ghost some months ago.
The EcoTank printers are, on the face of it, quite attractive, but for some reason, Epson are reluctant to offer the 6-colour L1800 in the UK, or indeed, anywhere in western Europe. Has anyone any...
