The 1500 profile looks a lot better to me, too, which is a little disappointing. But - without having a Claria ink image to compare it with - the 1500 profile isn't bad.

Thanks for all the advice - even more to chew over! Looking at PeterBJ's links to the new printers, it's a bit disappointing that there's no mention of the L1800, and none of the new ones appear to be dedicated photo printers.

Having looked at the manual for the L1800 (which is more easily available than the printer itself!), there's no mention of barcodes when refilling the ink tanks. But I wonder how L1800 ink compares with Epson Claria, or any of the third-party inks, particularly in terms of longevity?
