    I need printer therapy!

A golden rule...at least according to me, that I've picked up from trying to keep my printer printing is...don't get crazy when something goes wrong...be methodical and take your time...forget about whatever project you were going to do on the printer and let it go...then figure out your next...

Leave it on or turn it off ?

I like to unplug my printer when I am finished printing as the mains supply is full of spikes\surges etc and I've read too many instances about canon power supplies being fragile.

    Pro 100

    1) good point! I do have a few ICC profiles I use with it and it works great. The Hat was right years ago when he pessimistically stated " it won't last long" in other words I feel I need to think about what I will print on when the mg retires itself when canons planned obsolescence kicks in...

    Pro 100

It's been a while, hope you are all well! I'm looking at getting a pro 100 for personal use, is it a meaningful upgrade from my MG6220? The mg has a finer output (picoliter-wise) but the pro 100 has image engines\chips the mg does'nt. I have a DSLR so the pictures won't be lacking data. The mg...

HP inkjet paper not for me..

The pigment black is more a charcoal colour on the new HP paper and my eye tells me there are other colors being drawn out slightly like a chromatography effect, though the dye colours are slightly better than the staples paper, that could be a result of the time between printing each sheet.

    Sponge problems & flushing cartridges

There is immense pressure in a household water supply which isn't likely to help in the longevity of the sponges, plus the usual dissolved metals and other particulates in municipal or even well water cant be good for the print head, might be an idea to stick to a clean/new cheap garden sprayer...

IP5200 refill, not happy with image quality

Initially I had problems with my 226 oem carts after I had flushed them and it was cured by gently blowing into the top of the filled cartridge vent hole matrix till a drop of ink came out of the outlet port of the cartridge. I remember blowing into the cartridges vent hole before filling them...

HP inkjet paper not for me..

So just got back after finding some HP inkjet paper, tried it out on a nozzle check and compared it with my old staples inkjet paper and I found the black pigment ink nozzle check was way blacker on the old staples inkjet paper than on the new HP paper, the same section on the HP paper seemed...

Can somebody look at my nozzle check printout ??

I get the same issue once in a blue moon with my pigment black nozzle check too, I found that just taking out the cartridge and dropping the tiniest drop of windex on the receiving port where the pigment black slots in cures it every time. I am living in super low humidity here so that doesn't...

Canon Mg 6250 To The Recycle Bin?

Don't worry about those page counts The Hat I have them on my nozzle checks its nothing to worry about. I think he probably has air in his print head of parking pad contamination.

    Framed!

Does anyone have any pointers on framing solutions? I have pictures waiting to be framed/displayed and I am very limited on choice here unfortunately. I am open to making them as I am good with my hands..there's a joke in there somewhere... though I am not enthusiastic about cutting glass...

A little Fairy Story or is it !...

The Hat, have you ever tried some airbrush cleaning fluid for your pigment print heads? It is specifically made for pigmented water based airbrush paint, it may work well for you..

What Should You Do To Make Your Printer Last Forever?

When not in use I unplug my printer from the mains as its power supply will probably fail before anything else, this protects it from the spikes and surges and noise that it would otherwise be exposed too when I am not using the printer.

    Flushing Cartridges

As Mikling says thats good enough, reminds me of my 226 grey cartridge and mine was flushed with distilled water a number of times before putting it into service.

    Still Going Strong!

Thanks for the links Peter! If I do discover anything in that regard (service manuals etc) I certainly will make that available here, I also keep my eye on any posts to do with the MG6220 on here but its just not one of the more popular models people use as it tends to be single function/photo...
