    My profiles just suck.

Fwiw, I was just looking at the GamutVision website and found it is now FREE since it is no longer being supported. ColorThink Pro 3 is $399. GamutVision may show a bit more detail inside the gamut than ColorThink, but I don't know. My rough look at GamutVision version 1.3.7 shows it for PC...

    My profiles just suck.

Interesting reading in the link about the trees. I don't know if Colorthink has GamutVision's ability to read a profile as it does 'spatially,' but haven't found it yet. I'm still fairly new to it. Fwiw, I am making some profiles now with basICColor's dropRGB and their Display software as...

    My profiles just suck.

Yes, this was with Cone's inks. Both of Bill's Ball were same ink, paper, printer, output via Qimage Ultimate (Not a fan of printing from Adobe PS/LR since QU shows me the profiles and sets the Epson driver up correctly based from prior profile's memory.), etc. Just the profiles are Mine...

    My profiles just suck.

hmmm... Turns out you're right! The manufacturer's was worse than the one I made. Go figger!?! o_O Still seems odd the ColorThink Pro 3 shows a bigger gamut with the Factory profile above, but doesn't work out that way on paper with the home-brew one. Puzzling. Anyway, here's the image of...

    My profiles just suck.

I don't know what's going on with my i1 PhotoPro 2 profiling using x-rite's i1 Profiler software, but my profiles bite the dust against the manufacturers. Mine seem to be much smaller in overall gamut coverage. 3rd party ink (Cone)? Initial ink loading or density before profiling...

Anyone using basICColor dropRGB on here?

Thanks, but it's been several days and I'm aware of the time zone issue. Good to know about their upcoming holiday though, but I'm not holding my breath on them. At least x-rite responds within a few days. They even repaired my really old (2-3 years) Colormunki Photo for free when it wouldn't...

Anyone using basICColor dropRGB on here?

I got a question if you are using the basICColor's "dropRGB" to make a paper profile. Not having any luck getting any response at all from Germany's support team. W. Fisher

Canon dye ink vs. Epson pigment ink.

Do you know if the Surecolor HDR ink can be sucked out and reloaded into the 3880 refillable carts? No damage to the head? I'm guessing it is just their HDR PK Black, or maybe the lesser blacks too? Tia. W.F.

Canon dye ink vs. Epson pigment ink.

I resurrected an old Canon 9000 Mark II that was plugged and sitting idle for some months. It had OCP dye ink in it from Rjettek.com I think. Anyways, it showed some plugs so I let it sit with some head cleaner on the ink cart ports overnight, installed the OCP carts, and ran a few cleaning...

    Initial ink load for profiling?

ColorThink 3 shows a bit more darker blues, greens, and brighter reds with a +20% more ink loading. However, the Dmax of the PK black is now reversing and rising from 8.0 to 8.25 so it may be past its peak. Guess maybe 15% is the max for this paper. Too bad there isn't a better and faster...

    Initial ink load for profiling?

Funny neither profiling software mentions anything about setting up an "ink load" prior to making a profile. I always wondered about the little triangles within the small squares in i1 Profiler not matching and blamed it on the gamut and not the initial ink load. Seems they should address that...

    Initial ink load for profiling?

Yeah. I just tried adding 10% to the Epson driver with it set to No Color Management and printed out a second set of test targets. I use Qimage Ultimate as the print software as I don't trust PS on managing the printers, and basICColor Catch allows me to load its test charts into it with...

    Initial ink load for profiling?

I use both i1 PhotoPro 2 and basICColor for print profiles. The i1 Pro 2 spectrometer works with basICColor dropRGB 2 and their Catch 5 which is there paper profiler combo. Using either software, once I scan the test sheets you see the little targets with the Before and After colors in the...

Stylus Pro 3800 - fails to print

Crowbotix, what I do to mine is flood the capping station with head cleaner and blot until it is almost white again. Then food it and let it sit with the head parked on it overnight. The fumes of the head cleaner seem to soften overnight and they begin squirting again. I got some of the...

Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy Instructions

Bought a 50 sheet pack of "Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy" at local office supply since they had half-off sale (Norm. was $52 and now $26.). Need it to profile a printer and test out the new basICColor RGBbox or whatever it's called for profiling with an i1 PhotoPro 2 spectrometer...

i1 Profiler or basICColor 5 for monitor calibration?

Having issues with the i1 Display Pro (spectrometer) and its i1 Profiler software. Screen isn't matching the prints (Print profiles made with i1 PhotoPro 2 head.). Some things aren't clear to me in the i1 Profiler Contrast Ratio settings with the options: Native. ICC Ratio 1:247, Black point...

    Differences R3000 vs. P600 and Pro3880 and P800..kinda quirky

I went to a printer's seminar. What I learned was no two printers print alike, even with the same ink and paper or model number, and why the need to make a profile for each one. More alarming was the instructor opened ColorThink 3 on Epson's generic profiles for their glossy and luster papers...

    Fighting a 3880 clog.

Got a PK and M clog with the nozzle checks. I did replace the carts prior and was wondering how one can tell if it is due to a possible air bubble or an outright clog? Nozzle check shows the broken segments in the same areas of each color. Ran a few "Print Unclog Pattern" prints via Qimage...

Canvas front feed border issues with 3880.

Thanks. I have the canvas selected as a "Semi-Gloss Paper" on the Epson setup menu and not a canvas as I want to use the PK and not a switch to the MK. Just started it that way initially. I think that 3880 front feed might have some sort of forced border thing happening depending on the size...

Canvas front feed border issues with 3880.

I'm trying to print a 11x14 on canvas. Front feed to avoid the damn pizza wheel marks made by the top or rear feed. Front feed is doing odd border issues. I cut a 17" roll of canvas to 12x17", fed that, and the sides were less than 11" due to borders when I set it up in the print...
