So as you can see these are very unique! Very similar to CONE's system for their so called ink capsules that are inserted onto a chipped carriage.
The bad news is that I can no longer find them on Alibaba! They were not cheap either.

The ones you posted from EBAY appear to be pretty much the same design as some I saw for the R3000 and they can only be reset when empty and you get the error on the ink monitor.

I keep forgetting to post a follow-up to this... DO NOT BUY THEM! :barnie

While they look identical to Joe's, they do not allow resetting at will. Only when they reach empty. Big bummer... I also tried a resetter, and while it does go from red blink to solid green, the chip does NOT reset. Annoying, as they are very nice carts otherwise.

I am wondering if the current version of the carts @mikling has for the R2000 allow resetting at will?

I was also trying to figure out how to repurpose CISS combo chips and instead of using the tiny dampers, get them to work with the larger carts. I have a set of combo chips/dampers from inkjetcarts that work well, but the dampers are tiny.

I have another set that I haven't tried because the dampers are even smaller.

In the end I sold my Epson R2000 and went back to a simpler Epson 1500W, for which the refillables can be reset at will at any time.

The R2000 generation was one of the last series of chips to be powered by batteries with a built in reset. Many users did not understand the need for the reset ability nor did they care. The sellers had the same issue. So the mfrs basically did away with the built in reset. You might be able to find some New Old Stock around. Built in resets need battery changeout maintenance....who wants to do that except printaholics. The non printaholics want simplicity like phones and devices. No complications please.
Some CISSes were also built with outhanging batteries which powered the bank or cluster of 4. This reset ALL of the bank or cluster. Because they powered 4 at a time, the current draw on reset was much larger thus needing larger batteries. Again, these pretty much disappeared from the scene. What you will find now is that the cluster will disconnect 4 at a time , thus simulating the removal of the chip from the printer. Just an open circuit on the V+ channel. Same for the carts that have individual buttons.
Same held for the R3000 series as well as a host of desktops. People want simplicity and don't care about the benefits of cluster resets.
In NA, beware because the 1430 does not have the same exact firmware as the 1500W. The 1500W is more similar to the SP1400 which preceded the 1430 in its chip requirements for stability. The 1430 needs V6.3 chips which has a master-slave arrangement and cannot be reset individually nor will a resetter work.

If you had looked hard enough, you would have found the built in resetter chips at that time.As stated above, now, they are pretty much no where to be found. Also the new R2000 inks with the GLOP and Matte is now the printer you always wanted instead of messing around with the proposed RIPs etc.

These new inks will basically put an end to the many people wanting a simple pigment machine but do not want to commit to a K3 machine and want to remain in the Epson fold.
Essentially instead of converting a 1500W or 1430 to pigment, use the R1900, R2000, P400 and with these inks, you can get away with using OEM profiles and for the more demanding person, a custom ICC dials it in right on target.

I will also make a similar inkset for the R800/1800 which requires a different yellow and a blue. Same GLOP.

In the new year some GLOP improvements will likely be forthcoming as well.

I will also have a surprising story on Epson and clogging....good news and not bad and also will be food for thought.

These small cluster sets are removed from a CISS system. If the tubes are not used, the internal capacity is too small for the R2000 chips to be used. The chips want to see a greater volume if you want to make sure you don't empty the cart during use.

Thank you for your input, @mikling. I missed out on the battery ones and have fewer choices today.

Your comments made me look into how the decoder boards attach to the printer's CSIC board. This decoder isn't cheap, but it does allow resetting all 8 channels at once at any time. I am contemplating removing the CSIC board and attaching a cluster set from a CISS (I have two). This takes the domino effect from 8 down to a very manageable 2, and while one does have to wait for either bank to go empty, its a relatively cheap option compared to the decoder. I cannot see a reason why it wouldn't work...

I've searched, but I cannot find if anyone has anyone tried this... Am I missing something that renders this idea impossible/impractical?

The decoder boards are typically used by the garment printing people.
If you have the battery supported CISS set with enough skill, you can mount those onto normal MATCHING carts but you must refill inside the printer. With the battery backed CISS, there is no domino effect as you can reset anytime with the press of a button. So you can press two at the same time. The only warning is to make sure there is sufficient clearance for the batteries to ride on the top.

I delayed the listing of the new inks because of unforeseen illness striking me.

I do understand what you're saying, @mikling. However, I'd like to mount the CISS set OUTSIDE the printer.

My initial plan was to purchase another CSIC board... EPSON R2000 HOLDER CSIC - Connector - 2135229-0.jpg ...then disconnect the CSIC board ribbon cable (at the printhead) and route it OUTSIDE the printer. I connect the cable to the 'new' CSIC board and piggyback the CISS set, lining up the pins, probably held together with an office clip.
12-pinces-a-dessin-office-depot-double-clip-19-mm-1457910.jpg
This means the chips inside the printer (on the ink carts) are not read at all, and I can reset the inks without even opening the printer door.

I took apart the printer enough to learn that the ribbon cable for the CSIC board is folded length wise, and only HALF goes to the CSIC board. So disconnecting at the printhead is not a good idea. This gave me yet another idea...

My NEW plan is to purchase the CSIC board AND the ribbon cable. Epson R1800_R1900_R2000_R2400_R2880 Head Cable-2090523_3.jpg
Instead of disconnecting the CSIC ribbon cable at the printhead, I can disconnect it at the mainboard! No need to mess with the printhead at all, and disconnecting/reconnecting it should be much easier.

Parts are on order... so, does this make me a printaholic!?!?
