Just for the record:
I have two resetters for epson a4 printers,
- for r800 / t054x an old one, on the instruction paper it's called "QE 368 ink level resetter system". On the logic board you can read "SZ97836B Resetor 01", no "QE-xxx" here.
- for r285 / t080x a newer one, without instruction paper, on the board you can read "11-06-14 QE868".
I have bought these to override the ARC's of refillable carts and they work mostly fine. But sometimes one would turn red, no chance to get green, then I try the other, it might turn green, if not I try again the first, and then it finally resets to green... No idea what is going on - but it seems to be possible to irritate a resetter (or the communication with a certain cart), which then seems to be not able to reset, but after some repeating and switching it may be able to reset again..
- my first 3800/3880 resetter is called "WT-080" ("WT-3800E" on the package) but on the instruction paper there is no model 3800/3880 to find. Logic board: "resetor B500 / rev B" (no QE-xxx there..!). Trouble with LK LLK VM.
- my second has no label or paper, even the package is white.
Logic board reads: "QE HRYHJ"
Now I would like to see the logic board of the "QE-589" resetter ... if it reads the same as my second resetter..
PS: "direct fineart" seems to offer maintenance and cartridge resetter as different (on ebay)... who knows if these are really different..?!
My (second) has reset both ink and maintenance!
PPS: regarding firmware update: I once took the risk and clicked on "firmware update" (in the menu and in LFP) just to see what happens: to update I would have to click through following steps - which I certainly cancelled. I did not find any settings for auto-update of firmware.
But note that I don't have the newest firmware or driver installed..
