Canon pro 10 error B200 - How to get to the printer head?

Ok. I put the head back in, did a nozzle check and voila it's perfect. There's still some black powdery pieces on the paper though so I printed a document. The sheet came out clean. I checked the ink status and 2 carts were empty then I got the B200 again😫 Everytime a cart is empty I get the error.

Thanks Arthur 5. Sorry for the quality of the photo. What would we do without you gentlemen educating us about printers. This is my first pro photo printer, I didn't realize these machines are troublesome. I knew ink was expensive but didn't know the machine would be a pain.

The other method that I used was to remover the right side panel from the printer and cut a hole in the side of the frame to gain access to the gear that controls the locking catch that holds the print head on the purge pads.

When finished I hot glued the sidepieces back in but that was unnecessary because the side covers up the hole very neatly..

I used a Dramel tool for cutting..

P.S. Cleaning won’t work, you’re going to need a new Head..

OK @The Hat, I now have a massive hole in the side, but I would be grateful if you could let me know how I can raise the print head / ink carriage. Also, once the print head / ink carriage is raised, can I move it to the left manually? Thanks again for all your help!

I had as much luck when I first got my second hand Pro 10, but I don’t blame the printer for my stupid mistakes, I have been using these printers for 20 years and I can still mess up without any difficulties

Try removing the little screw on the bottom left side of the white cover (Red Arrow) then remove the white cover and you can get a screwdriver under the carriage bar (Springe loaded) while rotating the little white gears on the right (Black & Green arrow). You’ll see the head lift..

If you have the top cover open you can then reach in and pull the print head over to the centre of the printer to gain access to the print head..

P.S. make sure you have all OEM carts fitted, don’t use or mix compatibles to start off with…

@The Hat: This is going to be like a War & Peace novel ;) !
I removed the white cover and gentle moved the biggest gear (red arrow), which resulted in the black gear rotating (green arrow) and the bit jotting out is near the top. This resulted in visibly moving the carriage upwards. I gently pushed/held the carriage (orange arrow), but I am not able to move the carriage into the centre of the printer. Not sure what you meant by putting a screwdriver underneath the carriage bar. Where exactly do I put the screwdriver? Thanks so much yet again for any help you can offer.

Wow I was lucky I didn't have to that process. My printer turned on and I was able to access the print head. After cleaning the head 3 times and still got the b200 error I called Canon. They replaced the head for US$150 including pick up and delivery. I have been printing everyday and have the printer on all the time.

The bar that needs to be raised up is the one that is now visible, it has the black gear on it, but it’s not easy to lift the black gear up (Hurts the Hand) so if you put a screwdriver in behind this black gear you can then get good leverage.

It’s all Feckin a bit messy but it works,..

@The Hat, I'm afraid this is the novel! Good news :weee although my husband was very skeptical seeing the damage I had done with the dremel, he helped lifting the carriage and by moving the white gear underneath the carriage we were able to slide it to the centre. However, the lights are not on behind the cartridges when switching on the printer and the power on/off and warning lights are doing the same pattern as before, showing error 6700 and saying the printer is offline. I noticed that the 2 "ink pads" on the very right are full and there are quite a few little splatters near it. I've actually not printed lots on this printer and not ever borderless, but the long bit of foam the width of the printer almost is very saturated on the left with black ink (pooling a bit).

If your ink pads are still holding ink then your purge unit tubing may have become blocked, try spraying the whole area with W5 washing up liquid and mop/wipe up the excess ink and spray as much as you can, you may have to do this several times to get it looking a bit cleaner, especially the wiper blade on the front part of the purge unit.

You will also have to flood the purge pads with W5 and run a clean cycle, this should help clear any blockages in the purge unit tubing, you may have to do that a few times, when you lift the top lid and look at the purge pads again there should be no stand liquid or ink on them..

Thanks @The Hat! I am almost embarrassed to ask, but undiluted? Also a bit difficult to access the ink pads without a bit more disassembly :)
