ChromIQ-- Delta E errors with i1 Pro 3

The OP used Argyll with ChromIQ in hid attached text file which may have been what tripped him up. I cannot use Argyll as I have a USB port that feeds a multi-hub that runs around 5-6 other USB devices plugged into it and Argyll fouls that up to the point even the wireless USB mouse will skip...

ChromIQ-- Delta E errors with i1 Pro 3

Just saw this thread as I have an i1 Pro 3 also. Today I had to sort out the TC9.18 as my default save folder was not the x-rite one, so I got that sorted and printed two pages of the TC9.18. Soon as I saw the output I knew something was way off using Epson Ultra Premium Luster from an...

Editing profiles with SilverFast Ai Studio 9.

I bought the SilverFast Ai Studio 9 to make profiles using my old Epson flatbed scanner. Not cheap along with the it8 Version 2 target needed for calibration of the scanner, about $430 for the pair. Had all sorts of difficulties using it, and I was never pleased with the result, even edited...

    Colormunki Photo repair

My ColorMunki Photo began to be erratic. It would start in the ColorPicker from x-rite to spot read a color, but when I used the swivel USB hinge the thing would reset and need another calibration again. I thought it was maybe the USB cable so I bought a new one. Still erratic in operation...

    Bad vivid magenta ink.

Well, I managed to kill the vivid magenta totally. I ran the Piezoflush into the cleaned out cart and fed it to the printer for many flushes. No improvement, and nozzle checks were getting more sparse. Tried a cart full of Windex and alcohol and now got zero nozzle checks showing up on paper...

Epson ET-8550: horizontal banding mainly in neutral gray midtones despite clean nozzle check

If you switched to a 3rd party ink, you likely will not see the damage - if that is the cause - immediately. It will slowly creep up on you, imhe. For some bizarre reason, even though my repair or cleaning solution Vivid Magenta tank is filled with alcohol and WIndex, and it looks a faint blue...

Epson ET-8550: horizontal banding mainly in neutral gray midtones despite clean nozzle check

Since this happened with a non-OEM ink, maybe the ink has a different viscosity and maybe being thicker, might not clear some smaller nozzles as well as the OEM ink would? I got issues with a non-OEM ink now too in the 3880 (below) that seems to have congealed and clogged up my printhead...

    Bad vivid magenta ink.

My Epson 3880 uses a popular 3rd party ink (IJM) and their refillable carts. Generally, the Vivid Magenta is the one that gives me most trouble for nozzle check errors. It worked well over the past several days, but yesterday maybe 2/3 of it showed blocked nozzles all of a sudden. I did a...

    White point and ICC profiles

I attended a "Papers or Prints of the World" class at Freestyle Photo in Los Angeles. One thing that came out of it was several of the Epson profiles for their papers are the exact same thing, just a name change of the paper. The profile's color gamut volumes were exactly alike! No way if one...

Precision Colors - Quality Issues [RESOLVED]

To me, it looks like the red ink is too weak in the non-oem ink which will show issues in the blues/purples/oranges too. For a comparison, might be worth extracting a drop of ink out of the oem ink cart and the 3rd party and let it run down a sheet of glossy paper and dry to compare their...

    3880 post piezoflush routine?

I think the latter. No matter if you use software to flush it, or just print large blocks of specific ink colors, you'll need to refill those lines so get an extra maintenance tank handy for the line refill process. I'd also keep squirting some solvent to keep the print head's storage pads...

Who has the longest running inkjet printer?

I have a couple of Epson Stylus Pro 3880s from around 2010 and both are still running. Got two as I wanted to try the piezography B&W ink set in one from the start, but not happy with the results and tedious calibration mess so it became a refillable dye ink printer. One took a major tear down...

Need help disassembling ink path on Epson 3880 (totally blocked LM channel)

Fun, huh? It is a big pita to dismantle the thing, and I get why they consider it "Uneconomical to repair" with the time it takes to dig into it. I never have replaced the dampeners in my two as a plug often resolves itself after a lot of cleaning and sitting around in a wet paper towel...

    MakeQuad v2.6

Thanks Hendrik. I'll get back to it later. I need to go profile a printer now (i1 Photo 3) as the color has wandered a bit. Been using the new Print Prism software thing and I'm seeing some slight density issues in the blacks between it and the i1 Profiler 3 software, maybe some BPC...

    MakeQuad v2.6

I've been playing with this and ran into a problem where the .quad file it makes is compressed somehow and Peazip will not uncompress it and instead throws up an "Error" message. As such, I cannot place it into QTR either for it to be recognized. Got a bit lost in the math in the Appendix A...
