Recently I ordered 2 sets of refillable cartridges from China via Aliexpress.com and I had some strange problems with the chips. The first set I installed was refused by the printer causing all print head LED's to light up with a orange malfunctioning error. Also the printer driver refused to recognize the cartridges:

So I installed the second set of cartridges and this set was accepted by the printer.

Since all cartridges were randomly shipped and I just picked up a set from the whole package I can't understand the cause of this problem. The seller is reluctant to send me a new set of cartridges, because he can't believe this...

I hope he will read this topic too, as I have told him I am not an unexperienced user of refillable cartridges. My guess is the firmware does some strange things with refillable cartridges, but why only the first set of cartridges ???

I had less problems with Aliexpress suppliers in the past with credit or replacement shipments, but o.k., you may send them a screen copy of the error display of the status monitor as proof of your claim. Identifying the cause for the reject is difficult from remote, but the mfg date coded into the chips may be different-older , and the firmware is rejecting old date codes so you cannot even verify this assumption. The Epson firmware updates, mostly left on automatic by the user, do not just correct firmware deficiencies and errors but as well update a datecode limit below which older cartridges are rejected, and that limit is moving with every update. I got into that several times that refill cartridges in use for a pretty long time suddenly, after a firmware update got rejected. Only a downgrade could fix that, available for various models via the WICReset utility, regrettably not for all Epson models.

Actually in the dispute section I don't ask for money back, but for them to send me a new set of cartridges. I could however put it to 50% of the paid sum (as I have ordered 2 sets of cartridges: one set is clearly malfunctioning). So hopefully they will respond as soon as possible.

Just received a message of the seller: He claims not be able to read this website. I have checked on greatfirewallofchina.org and printerknowledge.com should be accessible from within China...I also tried to upload a movie showing me struggling with the cartridges and I could not send to his/her email address. So should I raise the refund amount from 1 cent to 50% of the purchase price?

If he is messing you around, just demand a total refund and be done with it, also advise him you’re going to report him to Alibaba complaints dept.:somad

That will shake him up big time..;)

I have now these resettable carts in my shop and I tested them with a customized Epson R2000 (DTG Printer) and another box new machine purchased over amazon.de

All of them! LOL
I've been using these carts for quite a while without a single problem. I did a video featuring these carts where I described them, do the initial fill and prime, use them till one is low and top off and reset, all in the same video. They worked very well for me. I no longer use them as I am using OEM carts bought from EBAY. But they did work just fine for me on my R2000

Hi Serhat,

Did you try to reset them at any given time, for example when magenta or yellow is at 60% ? Can you reset them back to 100%, when not completely empty as registered by the chip ? I too have similar cartridges and resetting is impossible unless when the printer says the cartridge is empty...The reason is the cascading problem when several cartridges are near empty.

The reset with chip itself only works when there are really low or already "empty"
but I have also a manuall resetter that works with 3rd party oem and refillable chips

Most of my customers use the decryption board for the R2000 to circumvent the cascading problem it will reset all ink level with one push to 100%

I already tried that with these cartridges...It doesn't work. I suggest you to try it if it works or not.
