Sorry for the late reply, but since this thread is been ongong for like 4 years :)D):

I've been flushing the cartridges with OctoInk's flush clips using distilled water, and letting them dry completely. They seem to soak up the ink perfectly fine the next time I fill. Why is it bad to let them dry completely, instead of storing the flushed cartridges with some moisture left in them?

PS: I use distilled water since my municipal water supply is harder than granite.

It's very easy to drain all the ink out of a Canon cartridge.

Start with a sheet of paper towel (kitchen paper, I believe it is called in the UK):

Fold it in half:

Fold it in half the other way:

Fold it in half again:

And once more the other way:

Now it has sixteen layers of thickness. Fold over the corner of the last fold:

Apply this corner to the inside of the outlet port:

Wrap the two diagonal sides of the paper towel along the sides of the cartridge and secure with a rubber band:

Place it on a surface that can tolerate ink and let it sit for a few hours or overnight. The paper towel will become saturated with ink. You may have to repeat the process to get all the ink out.

You can also use this technique to dry cartridges that you have purged with running water.

Thanks for sharing this useful solution. Really liked it.

Has anyone in the UK or europe ever ordered from @mikling of precisioncolors? Wondering about shipping costs and time to arrive from Canada.

The stuff he sells combined with @websnail of our own equally brilliant Octoink here in the UK would probably mean i would never have to look anywhere else for anything printer related. Especially Epson and Canon related.

Why not ask him? He keeps shipping costs very low, and even from Canada it's economical to order from him. Other dealers will hit you with a high minimum order. On the minus side, mail from Canada is a bit slow.

I have ordered from mikling and found it a great experience, prices were good and shipping was pretty reasonable too and not long to wait either, so very positive.

Cheers guys may give his products a try when my father gets his new printer (model still totally undecided lol) Feel its almost duty to support the members here that offer great advice and run a small business. Anyone can refill but without the likes of @websnail and @mikling we would all be doomed to random generic ink. :)

This method is excellent for drying your cartridges very quickly, but be careful because you don’t want to over dry them.

Why would over drying be a problem The Hat? I might've left the cartridge overnight that way : ( Have I ruined the cartridge?
