I was looking for info on getting into the service mode and using a service tool for the Pixma Pro 100
This procedure might work on older Pro 100’s, but not on the newer versions.. :(

Catching up... So, the Pro-100S's have updated firmware and aren't playing ball? I'm guessing I've missed some discussion on this?

Is there any update on getting a Canon Pro-100s firmware 2.031 into service mode?

Yes there is now, it’s a newer version of Service Tool that can be purchased on the internet, just Google it to find the correct one for your machine, beware because using the wrong service tool will result in the printer locking up..

My question was not on the software tool, it was how to get the Pro-100s into service mode as the posted methods do not work on firmware 2.031.

I read the thread you reference, and the issue of service mode for the Pro-100s was brought up there but not answered.

@computerperson could you please tell me which procedures you have tried to enter service mode and which service tools you have tried?

The use of a too old version service tool can cause lock of service mode.

I haven't used a service tool as I can't get into service mode.

Tried from off, press hold power, press resume 4, 5, 6 times no service mode entry.
Others on same firmware I have talked to have same issue. Prior to firmware 2 seem to work fine.

The instructions for the "Standard 5 presses of Stop/resume button" are not always clear.

Here is the procedure from the service manual for MG5200 series:

Start the machine in the service mode.
i. With the machine power turned off, while pressing the Stop button, press and hold the ON button. (DO NOT
release the buttons.)
ii. When the Power LED lights in green, while holding the ON button, release the Stop button. (DO NOT
release the ON button.)
iii. While holding the ON button, press the Stop button 5 times, and release the ON button. (Each time the Stop
button is pressed, the Alarm and Power LEDs light alternately, Alarm in orange and Power in green.)
iv. When the Power LED lights in green, the machine is ready for the service mode operation (nothing is
displayed on the LCD).

The problem is paragraph iii. The Stop button should be pressed and released 5 times before the ON button is
released.

A better and more clear instruction would then be:

i. With the printer power turned off, while pressing the Stop button, press and hold the ON button. (DO NOT release the buttons).
ii. When the Power LED lights in green, while holding the On button, release the Stop button. (DO NOT release the ON button.)
iii. While holding the ON button, press and release the Stop button 5 times, and then release the Power button. (Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the Alarm and Power LEDs light alternately, Alarm in orange and Power in green,
starting with Alarm LED.)
iv. The Power LED now starts flashing. When the Power LED lights steadily in green, the printer is ready for the service mode operation.

The Power LED might be other colours, for instance white or blue on other printer models.

But maybe you have successfully used this procedure on other printers? Then sadly it looks like Canon has changed the procedure for entering service mode. We will then have to wait or hope for somebody finding out the new procedure.

That works on previous firmware, not on 2.031. No one I know who has recent firmware can get this to work.

That is why I asked the question.
