I wonder if enabling 'avoid paper abrassion' in the custom settings of the driver could make a difference. I do that when I print with photo paper cut from a roll, as it's never perfectly flat.
Hi Artur, thanks for your help. I've tried printing enabling avoid paper abrasion and the result is the same, even using A4 photo paper.

Let’s deal with your nozzle print first, the printout is as perfect as printouts go, but I’m not too happy with the two cyan colours, because the PC cyan is darker than the Cyan blue, but this can’t happen if your using all OEM carts and inks, still I taught I mention it.

Moving on to your first Pic of in the Arch, I can see the same lightless near the top of the Pic, I assume you printed this on glossy paper, borderless and on high quality ?, to me that might suggest your having an issue with your photo black ink, but as in other photos it also happened with the Cyan ink too, so that can’t be an ink issue.

Maybe the answer lies in the next four Pics which were printed using margins and they don’t have these lines in them, and you’re A3 trick doesn’t have it either, I suggest you try running the Bottom Plate Cleaning to stop the smudges.. (Maintenance)

Now I’m wondering if you using Wi-Fi to print with or a USB cable, because that’s about the only other thing that I can think of that could be causing these lines to appear 27cm down the page , that's if you're not printing borderless.

A head alignment won’t cure the problem either because this is only happening on certain paper types, and maybe one of our many resident photo experts might have a suggestion or answer to your problem, chirp in and have a go, because I’m all out of ideas for now..:hu
Thank you so much for your great help.
It seems that I will go on printing with my A3 trick. I've ordered A3 paper, let's see how it performs.

I hadn’t much hope that it would work, but it was worth trying just in case.

Yours is one of the weirdest issues I’ve heard of in inkjet printing. Hard to find a reasonable explanation.
It looks as if it were a bent/damaged mechanical part in the printer, or an alien object, hindering the smooth feed of the paper when it reaches a very specific position, thus causing an irregular advance of the sheet for one inch or so. Plain paper, being much thinner, can pass over the troublesome area undisturbed, but thicker photo paper cannot. Even so, it’s hard to understand why the pattern of these lines is always exactly the same and why paper sizes shorter than A4 haven’t issues. That doesn’t figures, so to speak.

I really can't find an explanation for this. That's why I wanted to try changing the printhead from this unit , that seems to work properly, to the other printer with an electric failure in it.
When I receive the A3 paper I'll do some more proves.
Thanks for your help

Your crazy idea of changing the print head in your current working machine to the machine that has the damaged print head will work but as I said before, it’s not recommended.

But if you’re willing to waste all your ink to change the print head and risk further issues arising, then that can be done, risky but possible..

If your print setup is going to be exactly the same as your currently using in your working machine then I reckon you may reproduce exactly the same issues you have now, because, until you know what’s causing this problem, it would be crazy to swap print heads.
If you still want to try it, then PM me please..:hide

Hey, I'm a new member from Scottsdale, AZ. I've had a PRO-1 for about 8 years and used it a lot for the first 5 years. Then, after an office remodel, the printer was powered down for several years because I did not have a workable way to store it. I recently built a custom shelf for it, and would love to bring it back to life for the beautiful pictures it prints. I've read a lot of this thread, and I have not done anything that would have damaged my printer. (Other than letting it sit too long.) However, after new ink and a few clean cycles it seems that I have the banding pattern on PBK in my nozzle check. Everything else seems to have unclogged OK. Images are attached.

Seems like I need a new print head? I can source one fairly easily. Should I?

Print Head I Found

Also posted the custom shelf I built... Made out of oak with heavy duty slides. Works great... but hopefully not in vain.

If I had to bet, my guess is that there's electrical damage of the chips controlling the output of LG and PBK channels.
That banding is too perfect to be just random clogged nozzles. In that case, the only solution could be a new printhead.
But then, I've never been good at gambling, so what do I know ?

Yes I reckon you’ll need a new head, but I don’t know about your sliding shelf dough,

When extended I’d put some sort of support under it.. This is one mighty printer..

P.S. Make sure there is a Hologram on the box before openings the foil bag ?
I’ll send you a PM..
But then, I've never been good at gambling, so what do I know ?
I don’t know about that I reckon you’d make a shrewd poker player..

Here are some pics of the shelf fully extended. I built a lip that latches under the back of the shelf which is then locked in place by pushing the entire unit close to the wall. The slides are rated at 500 lbs. Overall it is remarkably solid even when fully extended.

I'll order the print head, and let you know how it goes. Thank you for your help, and wish me luck...
