"I have used wastepad reset software before to hack our Artisan printer. But I never actually changed out the hardware.
That’s not all I wanted to know. How often does this happen and what’s about the IX6820? It’s just an information good to know. There are not many printing that much with a home printer.

The point isn't if ink overflow is going to happen shortly after the ink pad counter reaches full. We know by experience that it doesn't until much later, but logic says that it will happen eventually, probably before the first year, if the OP prints the number of copies that he intends to do beforehand.
Do do you realize how much ink is needed for 10.000 13x19" full color prints on canvas ?
This media requires more ink that photo paper and 13x19" is roughly 2.5 bigger in area than A4 or letter size. We know too that cleaning cycles aren't triggered only by the time elapsed since the last cleaning but also when a certain amount of ink has been ejected by the nozzles. Even if automatic cleaning cycles are minimized by replacing all the carts at once, a considerable volume of ink will go down the pads on a regular basis, one way or another.

That was a quote from OP, not me.

My post was directed at The Hat and Artur5 doing their impressions of Rowdy Roddy Piper and Macho Man Rick Savage wrastling over waste ink pads.

Yes I do, it’s more than 20 liters. But he is not printing on canvas, only on a paper with a canvas like structure.
So do you have any experience when the IX6820 stops printing with full waste pads?

I’m afraid I can’t add any more evidence to convince you otherwise, so we’ll once again have to agree to disagree..:hugs

Maybe he would consider the much simpler process of installing an external waste ink tank on his Epson such as the one in this video.

Yes we used to use the software + external tank method for our Artisan printer.

With the Pixma iX6820 though, we haven't even bothered yet.

Maybe we'll have an overflow event someday. But the Pixma iX6820 is so cheap that I don't really care yet.

The idea goal would be to find something exactly like the Pixma iX6820 but with larger cartridge capacity.

First the printer I meant is the Pixma G620 with ChromaLife100 inks.

yes but the Pixma G620 only does 8.5 x 11"

We need 13x19

or at least 11x17 maybe

But we really need 13x19

With our Artisan printer, I think we did the software reset a half dozen times. Plus we use the external tank kit -- which we would dump out a couple times a month.

With the Canon Pixma iX6820 we haven't even attempted to do waste ink management yet. I'm assuming it'll be an issue soon though.

I can't give you very good volume stats because we've gone through a dozen different types of printers over the years and because market demand fluctuates throughout the year.

I wrote 10,000 prints a year as a general estimate at the beginning of this thread.
But really, i'm not sure.
If it rains, then the crowds don't come so there are some months when we don't print even a single page. So, some years our volume might be closer to 5,000 prints.
