Hello,

I currently run a small business and much of my business comes from foil stamped products. Currently I use a laser printer to print the design, then foil stamp it with a laminator.

However, I am hoping to expand my capabilities with wider/thicker paper. So I'm wondering if it is better to invest in a wide-format laser printer (which seem to be expensive and meant for office use), or find an alternative option like a digital foil stamping machine. I don't know where to find either of those.

I reckon you should stick to what you know and works best for you, yes an A3 laser is expensive but foil stamping machines are not cheap either, do a search on Craig’s List for a discontinued office A3 laser printer.. ;)

I think you should prefer your budget if you can afford wide format laser printer easily you can go for it and if not other option is available for you.

You may look for the bigger oki printers from the 9xxx series at the second hand market. I used one of them more than 10 years ago (even foilstamping). Xante will work very well too (they are re-branded oki).
