Future for ink filling is not much profitable because now more or more brands manufacturing printer with ink tanks which surprisingly reduced printing cost per page.
Certainly for home printer there is has scope for refilling business. Cartridge are very expensive that why people need to refilled the cartridge.

I voted no and I'm surprised people can't see that unless the manufacturer wants you to refill - eg: some of the Epson inkjets with tanks, its becoming very difficult to do so. ARC chips are on the way out, because even the 3rd party makers of them are getting greedy; its more profitable to sell single-use chips instead, which rules out refilling AND CISS. They're even making printheads encrypted!

I like deciding my own path, not walking down from a choice of only one that's chosen by the manufacturer.

Those days are fast disappearing, unless you have the sense to stock up... :hu

Yep I will keep my eye out for second hand bargains - which models to keep a look out for, any suggestions?

I can't see people stopping their efforts in refilling anytime soon.

I think with the advent of the ecotank printers etc, we will see a new market for improved quality aftermarket inks, atleast I hope so.

IIRC, the Canon MegaTank and the Epson EcoTank inks do not have the longevity performance of other non-"tank" printer inks.

At least in older versions of these printers, Consumer Report thought their text and image quality was lacking as well.

That's correct although if you think about it logically you can see why.

Imagine if Epson were selling Claria OEM inks in bulk... What would the remanufacturers do... Buy it up in bulk and product cheaper OEM quality ink cartridges cheaper than the official products :)

FWIW though I've already ID'd a solid pigment replacement for the Ecotank lines in both 4 and 6 colour inks... Oh and one thing to note... Epson really have put together a [bleep]ing awful OEM pigment black in the newer ET series printers. Lost count of the number of complaints about that ink whereas one compatible matt black has proven to run for years without issue.

But I digress... getting back on topic... I've heard from a few camera club members that even their competitions are shifting to using high quality projectors and moving away from technical printing so a better question might be, are the days of printing numbered?
