This was a project I decide to start and finish by Christmas eve, it’s to go on the back of a paper tray for an OKI Printer, the existing feed tray on the machine was damaged and I designed this to reinforce it.

To cut the story short, I wanted to check something and pause the print for a moment but pressed stop by mistake, it was 2 thirds complete @47 hours when that happened, A lot of French was spoken I can tell you..

I will have to start the Feckin thing all over again today “Wednesday morning”, if I had brains I’d have left well enough alone, the project has a very large foot print, 28 cm x 23 cm..

P.S. I reckon too much pre-Christmas Cheer may have played a part in my stupidly..

It isn't a holiday unless something goes amuck. For me it was missing an exit on the highway.

Would it be feasible to print the rest of the missing tray and then glue the two parts together?

My problem was I may have started my celebrations to Feckin early, and no, it’s not possible to save the print because it needs to be in one piece to have the strength to support a load of paper, that’s why it was made so large..

Wow, that's frustrating!

I've had mixed success with this, but have actually gone through the process of measuring the height of where the print failed, editing the G-Code to remove all the printed layers, and start the print over again where it failed.

I watched some great videos on how to do this. Do a google search like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=continue+failed+print+gcode

... and click "videos" and watch the first few.

It's not always perfect, but I've got it to work.

Wow, that's frustrating!

Ah come on guys, just take your medicine and move on, if I had to do that just to continue to print something that I'd messed up on, then I’d get my bottle of whisky and console myself some place quietly.

Really is it worth all that Friggin around just to save a print and how many times would you have to do this to be sure your starting in the right position, practice makes perfect, but so does reprinting...

As @stratman said it would be easier to print the missing bit and stick the two pieces together, but it would still look like a botched job on a pig’s ear, I’ve gone to a lot of trouble to make this thing right, so I don’t want to fail because I’m trying to save a bit of filament..

Sorry for being old fashioned but when it’s wrong you have to man up to it..

@Nifty - those resume printing videos are the stuff that can urn you into a better printer. Troubleshooting ability is the next level of knowledge. I also liked seeing a lady printing and thought her software and explanations were great. Thanks for the videos.

Also, if @The Hat watched the videos, I can hear him muttering 'what the feck are chicken fries?!"

Quick story, Long time ago I went to a psychology symposium and afterwards, I went with a small group and he main speaker, an elderly European man, to the inexpensive chain restaurant next to the university. The distinguished and well respected guest speaker ordered the special of the day - Chicken Lips. I kid you not.

I have already restarted the project again, and it will be finished some time Friday, I reckon my way is quicker than fiddling in the back of the radio looking for the little man inside, I’ll post a Pic when done..

P.S. And I taught that Hens teeth were an anomaly...

Chicken fingers, chicken fries, chicken lips and chicken fried steak - you've probably not had any but I'd bet you'd like 'em.

I'm not a fan of dim sum chicken feet. The pepper sauce is great but those scrawny feet and not my cuppa.

Well 67 hours later, I finally finish my project, the only thing extra it cost was time, the filament is there to be used anyway, what else is filament for but to use up...

I will endeavour to install the new shelf tomorrow and I just hope I got all my sizes correct what ever happens I’ll make the Feckin thing fit, because I’m not printing another one..

That is massive. It should last longer than the printer. And us.
