Another Few of my 3D Projects

[The Hat]

I’ve had an extension power lead for over 30 years and the socket cover first got broke when Adam was a boy, and I’ve repaired the cover dozens of times, but still it continues to fall apart exposing the live terminals.

I decide it was time to have a go at a 3D model part and see if I could recreate the top cover as near as possible to the original broken one, boy did I have fun.

I spent the afternoon making the part only to discover I couldn’t quite get everything to fit properly, and again spent all next day starting from scratch and adding in the sections till I had it just right, it ended up only half the code size, because I had duplicated so many of the section several time unnecessary.

It may not look great but its as near to been exact as possible and it fits like a glove and the plug also fits neatly into it, now someone with Fusion 360 experience could have made it in half the time, but OpenSCAD is where I’m at...

Here’s another one of my projects.

I made this little piece up to fit over a 7 mmm socket that I use to remove and attach the brass nozzle from the heat block when it’s very hot, it works a treat and saves my fingers...

I’m back but this time trying to improve my Ender 2, I decided to put in a few more springs to stabilise the heated bed, firstly I made two pieces to surround the existing base and to fit snuggly around it, but they would need something to hold them in place.

Then I made a new platform that would enable me to fix all the pieces together giving me the square shape I needed, the reason why the original platform was made that odd shape was to accommodate the control box that use to sit next to the platform.

I used 2.5 screws to hold the plastic pieces together and 3 mm screws to hold the whole lot onto the base platform, now all I got to do is see if it works the way I planned, time will tell....
This is the current base plate with the odd shape.
This template is going to add strength to my plate..
The hot plate with it's 3 adjustable fixing points..
My idea is to use 4 springs for better support..
The 4 springs will only be for stability and won’t be adjustable...

I haven't got the foggiest how all this comes together but if it's one of those motel beds that wiggle when you put a quarter in the box then crack on!

I could imagine the law suites wound be very popular with this type of furnishing where the kids got stuck or lose a finger...

We had a case here where a 3 years old got its head stuck in an electrical exit gate and choked, now all powered gates must be fitted with a big yellow warning sign, (Insurance purposes).

The death of a child is not good. Will the big yellow sign matter to the next 3 year old or is it something to make the adults feel better?

Ladders sold here have permanent instruction labels on them. McDonald's was sued for selling hot coffee. The stupidity is near limitless.
