I only ask about this because I frequently receive timeouts
when refreshing a page or clicking to go somewhere else.

Am I a very long distance from the server here in the US?

The domain is registered with GoDaddy, with a contact in California, USA.

Seems unusual to me that a US-based server gives me such issues
when I get other US- and foreign-based domains returning data
so much faster.

There are tools readily and freely available to ping an address and traceroute the hops from them to you.

The forum has historically been quite smooth running for years. However, there does seem to be an uptick in connection issues recently.

I was a little surprised that Printer Knowledge is supported by forum software from:- XenForo Ltd. is registered in England and Wales with company number 07294282. See foot of page.

Well, it's been some years since I've actively combatted spam and used all the
stuff to track the ultimate source, SamSpade won't install on Win7 64,
and the usual Win-included traces and pings source to IP addresses
I'm unable to identify, most likely due to my rustiness in such things. :(

...there does seem to be an uptick in connection issues recently.
But this may explain my issues.
I could try to ping and trace every connection hop between me and here,
then whois them, but it's mostly fine here, so I'm not terribly concerned.

My thanks for the replies.

Hey guys, thanks for the discussion and help with troubleshooting. If there is an issue, I want to find / fix it!

Does the issue happen when you're just browsing the site, or when you're posting, uploading pics, or everything?

I've been trying to see if I can duplicate the issues, but haven't been able to.

Our server is located in Dallas, TX and we're with a top-tier hosting company on a pretty solid configuration.

Server loads and CPU have looked pretty solid (there was a little spike a few days ago):

When you're having problems and want to help trouble-shoot, you can try a ping / trace from your location to our IP: 45.56.124.68

Ideally, we can determine if this is server-wide, specific to PrinterKnowledge, a specific ISP, specific users, etc.

Actually, just a few times while clicking links.

I've noticed it primarily on refresh or navigation.
No timeouts when trying to post a message.

It seems to be just a hop or two from my end, not the other way around.
It's been sporadic, not chronic.

Thanks @SkedAddled !

Let's keep on it and see if we can figure it out. It's important to me that my sites are zippy and reliable, so if you (and other) keep having problems, let me know so we can try to duplicate / isolate the problem.
