Don't you watch Joe's cosy chats on YouTube ?
No. Don't know if he even has instructional videos on my MP830, but I am in a good place with my printer and do not need further instruction.

With all the revenue he's generating from his relationship with this forum I hope he remembers his roots and participates more on the forum the way mikling does.

Actually Jose fills a different niche despite crossing this space. He has tended to focus more on the higher end of desktops and I can sense he is itching to step into the wide format arena. I once heard this somewhere or read it. "Go Big or Go Home". He might relate to that.

It appears that Jose is an experienced accomplished photographer and he has tried to duplicate his efforts from a history of being in the darkroom to what it takes to refill and the materials and techniques. In other words, his digital darkroom.

I doubt Jose will make videos on refilling All in Ones etc. It might be outside of his space or niche though the viewer can transfer some techniques.
Some viewers may start here and migrate over over time. Just as the photographic world while still taking still shots, the aspect of recording moving images is taking up more and more space and importance in the camera.

I've discovered that many do not relate to written instruction but learn from video. Did Youtube see this coming or did they create the phenomenon? Interesting.

No truer words have been written! In the medical field it is called "see one, do one, teach one".

All of them! LOL
Yes I do have continual access to near empty CANON PRO-1 OEM PGI-29 carts that I remove the chips from while preserving the first chip post, I then Mill each one so they can readily accept the fatter Chinese Single-Use chips many of you are very familiar with.
The installation after milling is fool proof.
Yes I do sell them.
It was mentioned that I have a video Channel.
Yes I do.
I specialize on higher end dedicated photo printers.
You all probably know what these models are.
I do not deal with any AIO printers or anything under 13" width capacity.
My background is Photography since I was 11 and now I am an old Army Retired Fart of 68.
Photography It was my job in the Army since 1967 ( Guess Where ) - 1989 Then Civilian Contractor photo position for another 24 years till I finally completely retired to be a Grandad and run the Channel.
So I tend to concentrate on the Photo Production / Printing Side of Printers.
I do not do printer repair and try leave those discussions to other here who are MUCH better qualified than I.
I do receive TONS of emails for printer help and I end up telling them to join a forum.
I produce Photo Prints for many reasons, Personal, For Revenue and of course as part of all the testing I do for the channel and to respond to requests from people.
I use full color management methods as well as simply letting the printer manage it if I happen to feel lazy that day.
So I will tend to stay away from questions and threads that simply I am not qualified to answer or contribute to.
My "Roots" concerning the various forums are spread out widely. Not just here.
However I do appreciate those who have supported my channel and what I am trying to do there.
Every penny I might bring in goes right back to "Feed" the over 15 Photo Printers CANON and EPSON that have and use to generate that very income through the channel.
The tax man hates that I can truthfully report net of ZERO I am sure.
Anyway that is why you all may not see me here too often.
Often I simply don't know or am able to contribute anything of substance if it has to do with a printer that I am simply not familiar with.

Thanks

Joe

I think your reference to video in the medical field is somewhat misleading. Before the aspect of practice, many many hours of reading, learning and focusing on what is involved has occurred. The ones that cannot are filtered out. The aspect of learning solely by video is completely false and I just want came off an episode with a customer who obviously is supposed to be intelligent but does not understand "swap" or " change chips".
When I was young there was no such thing as attention deficit disorder. Then we now have all this nonsense with fidget spinners are supposed to be good for children...what is world breeding today?

No wonder I cannot wait for AI to arrive soon enough. There are too many people driving around with NI. " No Intelligence". I'll take my chances getting around with Artificial Intelligence over No intelligence anyday even though there is a warm body behind the wheel.

I said nothing about video in the medical field, though I can understand your confusion. It was a wry and common comment on medical procedures in medical training.

While I appreciate the effort you put into your business, and I do respect your knowledge, your post read like an advertisement for your business and more properly should have been posted in a different thread such as Buy Sell Trade.

I understand there is a symbiotic business relationship between you and mikling and probably is reason, at least partially, why mikling has been johnny on the spot to back you up. I am glad you spoke for yourself, responding to my comments in this forum directly.

The forum is typically happy to deal with problems of fellow printer enthusiasts, including those created by your videos and sales, and are grateful to have new members. This forum has driven and continues to drive money into your pocket for which you participate on the forum very little in return. Mikling is an example of a merchant who does participate and contributes such that he is not just milking the golden calf. Then again, if you gave away the milk for free here then why would people watch your videos as much. So, I recognize your dilemma.

Still, this forum is an integral part of your business, both on the front end of driving people to your businesses and on the back end of resolving issues your clientele experience after viewing your videos or buying your products. For these reasons, this forum is one of your roots that should not be taken for granted.

Most of the info provided on the forum is basic and repetitive in nature, things you most certainly know and can pitch in to help with from time to time. Of course, your specialty knowledge is most appreciated even if it does not come up for discussion on the forum often.

Please continue to participate on the forum helping fellow members.

WOW I think I won't even respond to this. It will cause to much unnecessary traffic.
Though I still can't recall where I was constantly supposedly pushing that I do sell a few things.
I did once and Hat corrected me and deservedly so.
But other than my link to my channel which can be viewed either with or without ads I don't know what you mean by " your post read like an advertisement for your business"
Definitely not on this thread!

If this is the way things are going I really don't need this and can simply just lurk!

Wow I can't believe how this has gotten to this point.
Jose started off many years ago on this site with quite a bit of helpful tips and his expertise pertained mainly to Epson printers and the R2100 and then the R2400. At that time my supplier of choice was Image Specialists exclusively and the pigment ink that they made back then was one of the better ones. Jose made an observation that the magenta was very matte looking and I noted that as well. What we did not know at the time was why and the reason still continues today for a physical reason but that is another topic. In any case, this coincided with my search for something better....always trying to get perfection for peanuts. At the same time, Jose started to get more advanced with respect to color management...in essence he started to grow out of this board. Then he started to make videos but did not really have a channel as such. Over time he became of the more knowledgeable persons on this board especially when it came to Epsons. Then he branched out to Canon 9000s and then the Pro9500. But he started to take notice of what I was doing and he looked carefully at my own evolution of my business and discovered what I was doing. I was also moving into the higher realm of refilling not to boast but it was my intention to focus on areas I was interested in and kept me sane as to why I was doing it. I wanted better photos but could only afford refilling. The first time I reached out to Jose was to request that he print some targets for me on his Pro9000 so that they could be available free of charge to other users. Now he did this because he knew that these ICC profiles would be of tremendous benefit to other refillers. It was not done for personal gain at all. In fact in the end it actually cost him and I compensated him for the cost. He was providing a tremendous service for all refillers who could be lucky enough to have access to these files. Jose purchased his inks for the Pro9500 and 9000 and Artisan printers etc. from me as an anonymous customer.

Somehow I knew that Jose had been involved in the lab work and had worked with pathogens and when I discovered the magenta issue I reached out to him and his knowledge. He was able to confirm what I thought was the problem.

When I had finally finished my Epson PCK3 inkset I sent him a sample because he was one of the more vocal ones about magenta gloss issues with IS ink and I now had something better.....i.e. there is an alternative to Cone inks. See Jose. sample it.

Jose also was a victim of the Yello Jello and it coincided with what I was seeing and what Hat had gone though as well. I trusted Jose with what he experienced because I knew he was accomplished in refilling and the problem he experienced was defined properly by him. This pushed me to test for over a week to try and find what the problem was.

Then I dramatically improved the old Image Specialists inkset for the Pro9500. That improved gloss and eliminated the metamerism and adherence issues. He was one of the ones who like Hat was pushing the IS inkset. I sent him the new inkset and he was pleased and I expected him to be , because it literally left the old IS Pro9500 inkset in the dust. I near perfected it.

I don't pay or compensate Jose for any reviews that he does. The relationship is that he knows I am moving the boundaries of refilling to a level that photographers and some serious users want. I converse with him on some technical topics that he wants to know but not really at basic refilling.

One reason I have not made videos is because of the time it takes. I have products since a year ago that I have not listed for sale as yet. A bad businessman...why because I was driven to improve and perfect the inkset for the Pro-10. It has consumed me because the performance of the last inkset though thought to be superior to others globally was simply not up to my standard.

Not to denigrate others but Jose is also on the quest to print better with refilling as well. I once remarked to him that Refilling is taken for granted by me but now I am moving the boundary forward in the print quality level.

I will make videos in the future but they will be more technical than Jose's and will reveal stuff that hardly anyone knows about. Too technical for the casual and beginning refiller.

I think there is quite a bit of misunderstanding here. Jose shares a common goal with me and if you call that symbiotic then that is it.
What is that goal? Printing with champagne tastes on a beer budget.

No misunderstanding at all. You share common interests, collaborate towards common goals, and you drive business to each other. For instance, Joe drives potential buyer's to your business: http://canonpixmapro1.homestead.com/tHIS-IS-YOUR-PLACE-FOR-CANON-PRO-1-REFILLING-SUPPLIES.html

This is the symbiotic business relationship I referred to earlier. There is nothing wrong with this. Fairly much everything a person does is for self interest. It is self interest that drives humans to do what we do. Even helping out someone else has at its core a measure of self interest.

Sometimes, however, one's self interest can conflict with another's, such as if one makes money off the forum without significantly contributing back. This was my bone of contention earlier in the thread.

Joe and you are given a fair number of mentions and referrals to your businesses by members in this forum and for good reason - a good product. Additionally, the good will you do posting in the forum comes back to you many times over. Please keep contributing to your fellow members with instructional and illuminating posts.

Hmm. If I had a nickel for every time I referred people to your business...
