I will be shipping my Canon MP780 printer to a friend and would like to know what's the best way to ship it. It will be shipped with the original box. Is it recommended to leave the used cartridges inside the printer to prevent ink dryness which would damage to the printhead? The shipment will take about 7 days. Thank you.

Yes, you should leave cartridges in the printer and allow the head to return to its parked position after you hit the power button to turn it off. It might be a good idea to do a nozzle check just before turning the printer off for the last time and include it with the printer and tell your friend to do the same thing after arrival. A nozzle check is performed by hitting the menu button three times (until it says nozzle check) and then hitting the OK button.

The mp750 mp780 service manual provides useful details about shipping the printer. Use emule to get it.
