Is there a sticky somewhere or a webpage that list the main suppliers that people use?

I just got a canon mg-5320 and will quickly switch over to a refillable non-oem cartridge and ink.

Now I imagine the cartridge choice isn't as important as the ink choice.

Short of scouring this forum post by post to collect information, is there a place where it's all contained?

I'd like to get a decent ink that's as close as possible to the OEM ink for non clogging purposes..

Thanks,

Jim

Yes I suppose there should be one but we seem to get by without one.

This forum recommends you stick with OEM cartridges and refill them as the best option.

On the contrary the cartridge is probably more important,
if you cant get ink out of your cartridge then it really doesnt matter what type of ink you use..

The best place to make a shortcut is in a Cul-de-sac, so it is better to know where youre going to before setting out.

The only inks recommended on here are good quality inks that wont cost you a fortune
be easy to use with great results and give you as little trouble as possible.

Now if you tell us your location we can provide you with just about all of you needs ok.

Even the newer opaque ones? Is it more because of size inconsistencies? Or ink leaking out? OR just the sponge differences drying up and causing a clog?

Sorry... I'm in MA in the USA..
Interesting that I can't add a location or anything until 10 posts!

Thanks!

There are two ways you can refill; one is to use your current 225 Opaque cartridges,
and the other is to switch to 221/521 transparent cartridges and fill those.

The latter is an easier route because you can see what youre doing at all times
and your 225s being opaque can take a bit of getting use to but do work.

The best place to get everything you need to get started is percisioncolor.com (Closest)

They probability might have some empty OEM 221 cartridges also; their website is still under construction
so you might get them on their EBay site easier, or Email them direct with your questions..:)

I assume you mean precisioncolors com?? The website is pretty busted! But it's expected to be up and running by May 2012!! :D

I couldn't find their ebay store? Which brand of inks do they use? Or do they make their own?

Thanks again so far!

ok.. I think I found the e-bay store from a link buried in this forum. Strangely a general ebay search for precision colors provided no fruit!

Maybe because I had to go to the CA ebay site??

But is that the one I use to buy from to get to the US? Or should I just contact them directly?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim - Precision Colors is located in Canada, and their mailing costs are comparable to US charges. Their web site has been under construction for a very long time, but their service is excellent. They sell Image Specialist inks and identify them as such on the containers. For purchasing "sets" of inks for your printer the ebay store works just fine. Depending on how much you print you can buy sets that are 1, 2, 4, or more ounces per color. The sets that include the large black pigmented ink cartridge have double the quantity of ink for that cartridge as most people with these printers do a fair amount of text printing which uses the pigmented inks. If you want other items to start refilling you can also get kits on the ebay store. You can also contact them via phone (they do have a US number) or email. On the home page of their web site are two links - one for the ebay store and one titled "contact us."

The other two vendors that many forum participants in the US use are MIS and Hobbicolors. Although MIS is listed on the image specialist site as a vendor of their inks, their packaging and their web site store don't specify IS inks. I used to buy my ink from MIS, but when Precision Colors opened their store I bought from them. I was pleased with MIS also, but appreciate that Precision Colors identifies their inks on web site and on their packaging as IS inks. Hobbicolor is reported to give good results by those who use it. The owner doesn't disclose the manufacturer of their inks.

Thanks..

Where can I get the used 220/221 tanks from?

OR would I just be better off buying them from canon and swapping chips? I'm not completely opposed to that.
Heck.. Maybe I'll buy two sets of the 220/221 and a second set of the 225/226. That may hold me off for 6mo to a year before I have to buy ink!

You guys here are a great source of information! Thanks!

Precisioncolor may also have these cartridges in stock,
they sell these 220/221 cartridges empty and are considerably cheaper than buying new ones.:).
