Hi, I just bought an epson stylus 1400. What is my best option, please? Should I buy a CIS system (like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/CIS-ink-For-Eps...temQQimsxZ20090408?IMSfp=TL090408156010r32362 ) or refillable ink cartridges (like this http://www.inkjetsoutlet.com/refill-cartridge-t079.htm )? Or, just compatible non-refillable cartridges (like this http://www.ccs-digital.com/showink.asp?showcartridge=T079 )

I'm absolutely new to color printers, so forgive me if this question doesn't make complete sense.

Thanks in advance.

There are no silly questions here - just people willing to learn and help others learn. There are experts greater than I on this matter, but before you invest in equipment and inks while you learn the ropes, you should ask yourself these questions before you decide.

How much will you be printing? Is this printer going to be used exclusively for photos? If you are not going to print much, then a CIS system perhaps is not for you. If, however, you will be doing volume printing, then there are several people here in the business of making/selling excellent CIS systems. Do NOT skimp on poor quality inks as you might be disappointed in output quality.

I will step aside and let the experts consult with you, but in any case, welcome to this Forum!!

I haven't ever had a color printer before, so I'm not entirely sure how much I'm going to print. I wanted one because I want to be able to print paper in color for stationery, signs, and cards for my child, and also to print scrapbook pages with photos to bind into photobooks/albums. Because of the time involved, I don't foresee printing lots of individual color photos (though probably a few here and there) and will probably continue to outsource the bulk of this task to MPIX. Thanks for asking me to refine the question.

Cheers, M

I will recommend you to use refillable cartridges if you are not going to print a lot. I print an average of 400+ pictures a month if you think you are going to print this much then you should buy a CIS.

I will recommend you this seller (link below) to get all your stuff, the owner mikling is a member of this forum and a great guy to do business with. I guaranty you that everybody here will agree on that.

Inks This inks will also work with your printer even so your printer model is not listed in the description.
