Printer Model
Wf3620
Hi, I bought the Epson wf 3620 printer off fb to print school material for my kids, she said it worked great but had been sitting for a while. I have tried cleaning the print heads through the printer and with solution, when I did this it seemed the nozzles were clear as there was plenty of ink on the paper towels each time. I have replaced the cartridges, and there were times the print test showed some black & cyan but never the magenta or yellow, these 2 inks are the lowest while the cyan and black are still at good levels. Do I need to replace the maintenance tank or call this a wash?

The WF-3620 was introduced around 2014, making it approximately 12 years old in 2026.

Considering its age and condition:

  • Age: The printhead, ink delivery system, and other components may be deteriorating.
  • Extended inactivity: Dried ink may have permanently obstructed some nozzles.
  • Unsuccessful cleaning: Multiple cleaning attempts and replacement cartridges haven't restored all four colors.
  • Repair economics: Additional ink, cleaning supplies, or replacement parts could easily cost more than the printer is worth.
  • Reliability: Even if repaired, there's no guarantee it will continue working consistently.
Bottom line: Don't replace the maintenance box or spend money on additional repairs. The money would be better put toward a replacement printer.

Just my opinion of course and keep in mind you have to include the value of your time too.
