I'm new to the forum and hope to take advantage of the collective wisdom here. I have a Canon iP4000 for which I've always used Canon's own cartridges. I would like to save money going forward, but I don't print in such volume that it would make sense to refill cartridges myself. Therefore, I think I'm better off buying non-OEM prefilled cartridges.

By searching this forum, I've found a number of vendors of prefilled cartridges, all of which are much cheaper than OEM: Printer Filling Station, Atlantic Inkjet, InkSupply, InkGrabber, 4inkjets, Print Country, and Swift Ink.

But I have also learned by reading this forum that sometimes the quality of these products varies over time -- and that sometimes the ink used in these non-OEM cartridges also changes over time. Therefore, I was hoping to get some advice on the above suppliers; in particular, are there any that I should avoid like the plague, and are there any that are particularly good? (I know it is unreasonable to ask which is "the best.")

Thanks in advance.

Don't buy prefilled compatible ink cartridges. Refill your own OEM cartridges. It not saves you money it will be safe for your print head. Compatible ink cartridges are known to be print head killers.

Compatible cartridges can be a quick easy solution. But the quality can differ drastically between brands.

Jettec or Q-Image are best.

Try Cartridge World they offer a solution for everything.

A lesson learnt and expounded by members of this site is: give your OEM carts lots of TLC and they might last longer than your printer!

The quality of the ink in your cart is more important than the carts, if the ink clogs your printer or fades from your prints- you have a real bad problem. If the 3rd party cart leaks ink or air, it's annoying and you can replace it with a new OEM and move on.

I urge following the suggestion made by many members of this site, refill your own carts with a known quality ink. It is a readily acquired skill and a win-win action.
Several members of this site sell products for refilling, repairing, recleaning, resurrecting dying printers and possibly growing new hair!

Here is a list I accumulated searching many posts and conferring with camera club members in my locale, New England, USA over several years.

These are some of the sources that are most recommended:

If you can recommend another source of proven quality, please post, if the members agree it can be added.
It would be nice to make this list a sticky post that can be easily accessed--observe that the OP did not find any of our prominent vendor-members. I also note that many posters here & there don't even bother to search; their one line request typically: Where can I buy some cheap ink for my wizbang 1234 printer?
