I have a TS3150 which I use only for Black printing.
As both cart holders need to be occupied would the machine work
if I put Black Carts in both holders?

Yes and no, if you could fit a colour chip to the black cartridges then the printer would accept it, but it still won’t use that cartridge to print from, so what’s your point..

The printer uses chipped cartridges that identifythemselves to the printer. The printer will not recognize a PG-545 Pigment Black where the CL-546 Dye-based Color cartridge should be.

You could refill the CL-546 with all black ink but this may present a new issue if you put Pigment Black in the CL-546 Dye-based colored cartridge - pigment particles may clog the CL-546 print head that is built into the cartridge. You would need to turn off ink level monitoring to allow the cartridge to be used.

If you give it a try then let us know the results..

Thanks to both, I thought I could just try it out, didn't realise they were chipped.
Might leave it alone!
