I haven't used my MX870 in ages now.
Prints OK. I need to do a few head cleans I think.

I have a new PG520 ink cartridge - now empty and needing refilling.
I think that's what it's called - it's the big fat one.

I've got the refill kit.
I'm having trouble inserting the needle in.
I've hit a block. If I force more, the needle will bend.

Have Canon changed the cartridge or something?

Else, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

I guess this is about the German refill method?

As far as I know Canon has made no changes to the PGI-520 cartridges, but it might take a few attempts to get the needle through the cut out in the partition between the sponge and ink compartments. It might be easier to position the needle correctly without the syringe attached and attach the syringe when the needle is in the correct position. See this instruction by @pharmacist and specially notice images #3, #4 and #6. Also see this post by @rodbam and notice the photos linked to.
