Your comment about the astronaut pen reminds me of that anecdote back in the sixties when the NASA invested tons of money in a pen that could write in non gravity conditions, proudly announcing at last that they had succeeded after umpteen efforts to design an ordinary looking ballpoint pen with an ultra miniature pump inside.
The Russians didn’t spend so much money on this matter, they used pencils. Their only problem was to get rid of the floating splinters of wood which spread inside the ship when they sharpened the tool, :p

And the eraser bits generated when you erase. :sick
