Well, I placed one of the heads returning B200 from the MX7600 in the IX7000: it was accepted.
Back in the MX7600: accepted too, but only a very short time.
Is it the head retested again by the printer and considered out of service, or the printer rejecting any head ?

I'll try to test the head a longer time in the IX7000.

I've had the same experience with an i865 head, the printer had Finished a print run of 50 sheets and the on-screen message was “Replace Print”, it had more than 10000 on it.

After a month or so I put this same old head back in and got a perfect nozzle check and it continued to print for a few weeks but then I got the first B200 error.

I swapped the two heads again and everything was back printing as normal, but I was curious to find out if this old head was really dead.

So, I put it back in again, this time half of the nozzles were missing on the cyan and magenta and the 3eBK black was blank, but I will keep this head in case I get another B200 error on my current head, it helps to reset the EPROM memory.

P.S. I did much the same with a 9500 head that had the B200 error, but as before the nozzle check was terrible, it’s now only good for trouble shooting and over printing Glop...

The first head printed more than 20.000 pages in 8 years, and the 2 others were in used printers I bought for €50 and €10, I do not complain.
Probably there is nothing wrong with the printer, I'll open it again to turn the wheel of the purge unit to unlock the head , and I will place a new printhead.
