I did a quick search, probably not hard enough, to find out what the purpose of / difference is between the Canon i, s and pixma series / lines of printers.
I was initially wondering what the difference is between an i860 (or i960) and a s900, and that made me question what the various series printers are for.
Is the s900 an older printer than the i's?

Thanks :D

so what is the s900 compared to the i960? Why did Canon have the 2 lines of printers?
Is the s900 an older printer?

Optimizer that is a good question and I would like to know the answer myself.

I read (somewhere) that the i960 was the replacement for the s900. Both of these having the 6 cartridges.

The i860 (which looks exactly like the i960) is a 5 cartridge printer with one of the 5 being a big pigment Black, and another of the 5 being the dye black (No photo cyan and magents).
