Help need Please!
I have a US MP560 which uses a different Cartridge which is not available in the UK
I can't get on with filling the ink job, and I wodered if I used a Tank would that solve the problem
of having to fill each cartridge.

If you are not prepared to refill then the only other option is to purchase the 521/ 520 cartridges
and fit the chips from your 221/220 cartridges on to them.

You have now got two choices to make, step one is to disable your ink monitoring and check it visually yourself very regularly,
or step two get a resetter to reset your chip to full again each time you buy a set of new cartridges.

Here is a link on how to change over the chips; it is a very easy and simple job to do.

also a link to where you can get a US resetter http://www.octoink.co.uk/categories/Refill-Tools{47}Kits/Chip-Resetters/

There is also a good chance that a resetter for the American PGI-220/CLI-221 chips can change the European PGI-520/CLI-521 chips into American chips. See this thread for a report of a successful chip region change: http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=7845 . Possibly the resetter needs to be the original Redsettter for PGI-2220/CLI-221 chips: http://www.octoink.co.uk/products/Canon-CLI%2d221{47}PGI%2d220-Redsetter-[Battery].html for battery operation or http://www.octoink.co.uk/products/Canon-CLI%2d221{47}PGI%2d220-Redsetter-[USB].html for USB powered operation.

The region change from North America (Canon region 2) to Europe (Canon region 5), done in service mode, may unlock CD printing, but you will still have to use cartridges from the printers original region. See this post: http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=63082#p63082

If the Redsetter fails to change the European cartridges into American cartridges, then empty and cleaned, ready to use American cartridges are found here: http://www.precisioncolors.com/c5ccart.html

I've got a bunch of surplus 220/221 chips. Contact me, this will bring the 560 to a workable solution

There are lots of good printers out there that will satisfy your needs regarding good photos,
however just like the cartridge and chip thing, some of these new printers can be a real money trap.

I strongly suggest you keep on using your 560 if at all possible, one because its a great little all rounder
and two it will be far cheaper to convert it to using Euro cartridges,
and three you know it works very well for your current needs.

The newer small printers are cheap to buy but expensive to run and maintain,
they dont last anywhere near as long as their older cousins either.

There is no cheap way to convert an US printer over to using Euro cartridges but once you make the initial conversion
then it becomes cheaper, but you do need some input to keep it that way.

Whatever it takes to get your printer working again will be worth it in the long run
so take up miklings offer to help you and see if he can come up with a workable solution that is to your liking.. :)
