Hi,

I am thinking to buy some empty 520/521 empty cartridges on ebay, buy also 525/526 cartridges too, replace chips from 525/526 to 520/521 and then refill at once 5-6 cartridge sets at once, to avoid too often getting messy with ink.

Questions:

1) Is it safe to refill cartridges, leave them out of printer for month-two and use them when needed? Of course, I would close output port and breather hole
2) Are the chip from 526 cartridges color sensitive? Do I need to put for example chip from cyan 526 to cyan 521. or I can put any 526 chip on 521 cyan?

Thanks
Vladimir

Hi,

1. There should be no problems keeping the refilled cartridges for a month or two if properly sealed. As far as I remember most of the OEM ink cartridge have a shelf life of 2 years.
2. Sorry I can't help you regarding the 2nd question :(

The answer to your second question is correct in sample (1) all Canon chips are colour coded,
so it helps to change them one at a time so as not to get them mixed up.

Don't worry if you manage to get any of them wrong your printer will warn you of your mistake anyway.
